I well be in the 60643 over Thanksgiving, wondering if anyone has any updates on where new to go locally for good beer (on tap our bottle shops), out if anyone would be interested in any ip trading? Peace Tree, Great River, maybe some local growlers, maybe something from my personal aged collection?

I wish I could help you out, but I am not very familiar with the southside. I know there are some BAs from down that way though. Give it time, they'll respond...

The best place close to Beverly is the Maple Tree Inn (http://www.gotwalrus.com/), always an amazing tap list and good food too.

As far as bottle shops Kenwood in Oak Lawn has a good selection and great prices though its a bit of a mess organizationally.

I might be pretty busy around that time but feel free to PM as it gets closer and I might be able to meet up for some IP trades.

Quigley's on 111th and pulaski has a nice tap selection and a good variety.

I always go to Quigley's for weekday happy hour. Decent list but they don't do a good job of updating their beers so don't expect anything too new and exciting. Maple Tree usually has a great list of special tappings. De Ja Brew in Oak Lawn has a decent list too and does a better job of having seasonals. Plus last time I checked they had some Revolution and 3 Floyds on tap too.

Kenwood is good but definitely disorganized. George's Liquors in Mt. Greenwood has a huge selection but also way overpriced. I used to go there all the time and just got tired of dealing with the cashier dude there. Got real cocky about the special beers and started throwing power and being selective on who he wants to sell. Really soured me to the place. Only go now once in a while when I can't find anything at Kenwood or Binny's.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just wish some place on Western would open up with a phenomenal tap list. And you can't tell me Beverly couldn't support something with 25 taps of craft. I live in Iowa. We have towns of 1500 people with 8 amazing craft taps on. And more than one place. And Bev Rats can't do better than SNPA or an occasional Bells? I hope Horse Thief Hollow does awesome, and I think they will. But I also think that Cork or Seans or a new place could throw on Stone, Bell's, Revolution, etc etc etc and rotate them often and do awesome. But I will try and make it up to Quigleys. It's just living in Beverly proper, no one ever wants to go anywhere other than Western.

You gotta get some range man. yr only, what, 15 minutes from 3Floyds and Beer Geeks. Flossmor cant be 10 min. And if you havent been to Tribes its worth the ride. Great taps and food and cant be that far for you.

I shop at George's. They have some outdated bottles though so keep your eye on that. Much better selection than Kenwood. Towne on 100th & Western sells some good brews, but limited selection. It's worth a shot.

Can't wait for Horse Thief Hollow!

I haven't been there in a number of years...moved away from the area 13 years ago, before i was old enough to drink...But a friend of mine keeps finding BCBS at korbakes...half a block south of 127th on Western in Blue Island.

I shop at George`s in Merrionette Park and have never had a problem...I do know a girl that works there through a mutual friend....maybe that's why the guy doesn't give me any problems...I used to think they were overpriced but on a recent trip to Binnys....prices were the same...I'd rather shop at Georges then drive out to OP...saves me gas and the traffic...

Horse Thief will be bringing in a constantly rotating tap of interesting/rare beers - in addition to what is brewed on site. Target open is late November - early December...depending on how all the city paperwork and inspections go.

I'll add that I don't know anyone there but the few times I've been there to hunt something down everyone I dealt with was friendly.

That is great news. I think HTH will be a huge success, I hope I can get in there and that it spurs more craft-centered places to open.

I had one negative experience at George's. I tried returning a bottle of stone ipa that was past its enjoy by date. The young girl behind the counter, told me, "oh no, that's craft beer, it doesn't go bad. What are you just trying to get money from us?" Very rude. The manager let me get a new bottle once I pointed the date out to him. All those old stone bombers were still on the shelf over a week later.
