I'm also in Vernon Hills if you ever want to have a more local share.

Depends on how you want to do it.

If you're passing the bottle around and everyone takes a pour, yeah, 10-12 is ideal.

If it's more of a DLD-style free for all where there's just a table of bottles and you grab what you want, then you can have more people.

Granted the latter has a bigger chance to be a shit-show, but I would hope we're all mature enough to avoid that (insert line about hoping in one hand and cropping in the other).

I feel like the latter would make people feel like they need to bring more bottles as well. If it's just a giant FFA, any great bottles people intended to "share" would be gone before everybody has a chance to sit down.

Yeah, that's not the best setting for whales. Something like a Side Note wouldn't last long. It's more of a casual limited release/out of distro event where people pick and choose more. IE maybe you skip the NE IPA of the week that you were able to get, but you try a few things you missed like Black Note, BA Prairie, other NE IPA, ect.

Spot on. I just prefer shares that go 1 or 2 at a time and you focus more on the beer than a table full of bombers and you just chug samples till its gone.

I think it depends on the beer selection.

If it's something like a Diabeetus share (DL variants), then yeah, limit it to 10-12 people, bring a bottle a piece, and open one at a time. That makes sense due to ABV, cost and rarity.

If it's something like a NE or non-Chicago distro IPA share, people can bring more stuff and it kind of makes sense to be more casual.

I think both can be/are viable.

I agree with the above, but the point would be to clarify which of those 2 types of shares youre doing, or where you are on the spectrum in general.

You could suggest to do one IPA/Sour and one stout/BW each. Something along those lines

For what it's worth, I looked into Irazu party room, and I don't think its worth it financially. I'll keep looking into other spots.

I would also like to keep it small. 10-12 seems about right.

    $30/pp, minimum 15.

So $450 base, plus a $200 deposit and tax, gratuity, etc.

More work than I want to put in to pop some bottles.
