Chicago bottleshops and ZD availability

    How much do you think a store pays out of pocket after all is said and done? $10 a sixer/$40 case? $45 a case?

    Vav or any of the other retailers 'round here could give you a good answer but I suspect it's not good business practice to share specific numbers like that.

    My guess? The distributor probably sells it to a retailer @ 50% mark-up. Retailers mark it up a couple dollars and sell it to us. Margins on craft beer are razor-thin. Ever wonder why Binny's rarely (if ever) sends out discount coupons for beer but you see them all the time for wine and spirits?

    I did find it on the shelf at Binny's downtown on a Wednesday about a month ago. It was, however, the last one (I saw a guy grab four of them right before me), and I don't think they were restocking. It was crazy fresh, preceding a brewery release. But I just got super-lucky.
