Yeah, I wasn't blown away by the stuff I had (a couple years back, when I actually was at DBY), but it was perfectly drinkable. And they were very pro-dog, so I rooted for them, lol.

Just bought some yesterday because it was the only Maibock I saw on the shelf other than two I'd already tried. Plan to give it a taste this afternoon -- what was your impression?

Hey -- was your purchase the odd format of a 4-pack of 12 ounce cans?

Didn't see this one at the local Binny's yesterday, would have snapped it up!

My own impression is that this is another Maibock relying too much on alcohol and the wrong hopping schedule to-style.

It's pretty hot, a little too sharply bitter, and just doesn't have that luscious malt character I always look for.

If you like hot alcohol character, a dry and bitter finish -- you'll like this one. It's definitely not sweet.

Interesting that NW gives a one year best by date.

Yes, it was a 4-pk. of 12 oz. cans. Had one a few days ago, and had a similar impression to the Festbier. Decent but a little out of balance the style.

Ayinger has Maibock in bottled 4-packs this year, be on the lookout. Went through one pretty fast already.

Already tried it -- I feel similarly about it as I do the Noon Whistle.

More Brewing is still making my favorite -- but I think they brewed less this year -- only seen it as far north as Lake Zurich.

Saw your review and see we have similar impressions of the NW Maibock.

I had another over the weekend and just drank it while working on some paperwork (no real focus) -- it's a fairly nice IPA with those bitter, resiny hops.

I was sitting at the bar last night when they tapped it!

EDIT: I also brutally misspelled the beer. St. Lamvinus.

I’m beginning to think he’s Kegaclaus and visits good bars to drop off kegs late at night while the kids are asleep so be good for goodness sake.

There isn’t a Cruz Blanca thread for 2023 and there probably doesn’t need to be one , so this seemed like a good spot to air my complaints.

I think 2022 Tarzan boy is infected. I opened a can today and it tasted like pineapple juice , very acidic coffee , bourbon and vomit … It’s disappointing to me because I have had Tarzan Boy in prior years and it was really good.

Has anyone else had Tarzan Boy recently? Are any of the other luchadors tasting off? I had Rey cuvée and vanilla Rey cuvée soon after the release and both were awesome.

Had a can left so I cracked it today - I think maybe you had an off can? Mine was excellent. Did have more coffee than I remember in past years, but otherwise, it was delicious.
