Yeah same here. Once in a while it's ok especially for a top 250 beer (at least in my mind that's how I justify it). I also grabbed a $10 4-pack of Tucher Rotbier only because @FBarber been talking up Rotbiers.
WHOA WHOA WHOA where did you find tucher rotbier?? Edit: Apparently my reading comprehension is at an all time low - it looks like Beer temple?
Yeah - I actually emailed the distributor and they said Binny's Lincoln Park (showing as already out of stock), The Beer Temple, and Gene's Sausage Shop). Super fast response from the US distributor too.
Narrow Gauge popped up in the market late last week with DDH Fallen Flag, OJ Run, King OJ Run, and the Up Up Down Down…etc
Mikerphone has North Park cans to go @ $10 ea. Dankers Hill, Hop Fu, Night of the Ninja Hop Zombies, Art is Hard, Simcoe Slammer, Space Dojo &Sunny w/Citra & Rakau.
Hadn’t had Narrow Gauge in a while. Up Up Down Down..etc was ok. OJ Run was good (had it a few years ago). King OJ Run was very good to great for a triple. That’s worth trying on draft or having a can if you see it. I think Open Bottle and Beer Cellar Glen Ellyn both have it tonight
Bottle Theory in Elmhurst has Black Tuesday bottles. Never seen that around Chicago before. But $55/bottle! Maybe it's not that bad a deal for basically 20% alcohol?
Beer Temple just posted that they have it in as well. Don't know the price, but probably something similar.
I see it out in the suburbs too, but that price is brutal. Wishing I would have just had a pour at FOBAB but that abv was very intimidating after a bunch of other high abv stouts so I passed it.
Prior to FOBAB I had it maybe.... 8 years ago? I remember really enjoying it. At FOBAB it was honestly one of the worst beers my group had all night.
Black Tuesday is like 120 Minute IPA...it actually benefits from extended aging. Fresh Black Tuesday is borderling undrinkable, but I had an 8 year old bottle a few years ago & it was a delight. IMO.
