Any good or is this going to be similar to the Fat Tire situation where we say something like it isn’t as good once it went west of the Erie Canal?
Bottle Theory in Elmhurst posted their list on untappd. Most are $12 for 10oz or $14 for 15oz. 5 oz pours either $5 or $7.
For those that are good at predicting things, any idea how long the Hill Farmstead beers will remain available (generally)? Is there a chance they'll get kicked this weekend, or might they last into the week, or longer? Lots of family commitments this week/weekend, and I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get out. Hoping that there's some stuff still around next week.
It seems like places are staggering their taps, so it's possible some stuff will still be on by the end of the weekend. Always hard to tell though, given that the weekend is obviously the busiest time for most of these places. I'd imagine that some of the more "casual" spots (places like Bitter Pops) won't blow through the saisons as quickly as they could, though.
Stopped at Bottle Theory for a burger and a few pours yesterday. I liked Double Citra over Double Nelson among the hazies. Will do another trip out this week to pursue some of the saisons
The HF takeover at hopleaf is pretty ridiculous. They were busy , but I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot these last thru the weekend at least
Hopleaf was PACKED, especially the back bar area. Not sure if Shaun was there, but I couldn’t tell because of the mass of people back there. I don’t know when the early arrivers got there, but the GF and I rolled in around 4:45 and couldn’t sit at either bar. Did the dinner service area and got a table right away. Double Nelson was awesome, the lady really liked the Samuel 2023.
Been thinking about this and I understand it may not be great for Chicago breweries, but I do kinda dig that this stuff is draft only. Feels like a nice B-12 shot for the beer bars to draw people in
Is it a ticking thing or is it going to be a sustainable sales volume? I suspect like every other beer that’s hit the market it will eventually be taken for granted and passed over for the next new thing no matter how great the beer is.
In other news I saw that Anchorage dropped some heavy bottles in the area. Some are going for north of $150
Obviously it won’t be the new thing in town for long. I would expect the IPA prices to go down or at least the bars will figure out the format size to make it palatable. I think it also depends on how frequently they send stuff out and if it’s new things too.
I think Bottle Theory had one listed for $172 (it was quad BA aged something something)....in a 375ml bottle. You can actually get these cheaper on Tavour with shipping
