A beer friend is heading to Chicago for the weekend. Beer recommendations? Something good not available in MA, can be found without hunting? Thinking he may have room for 1 or 2 four packs. Stouts or ipa's?

^^^^ Thanks. That's a huge list/agenda. He's going to a store, Binney's and pick up some half acre or pipe works? Better thoughts?

Binny's is always a great option. Especially the one in Lincoln Park. Half Acre could have some goodies. They have their Lincoln taproom and their new taproom at Balmoral. Both have bottle shops. Pipeworks has some BA stouts and other goodies as of recent. But that might not last through this weekend. Other bottle shops to check out are Capones, Bottles and Cans, Beer Temple (also has a ridiculously good tap room), West Lakeview Liquors.

If you're looking to not impose on your friend too much, have him go to a Binny's. Half Acre and Pipeworks are both great local breweries, but I think it'll depend what you really want. You could have him see if they have any Forbidden Root Night Moth that just came out in cans - it's a NEIPA that was on oak (I personally wasn't a fan, but I think I'm in the minority). I haven't been hitting up stores lately to know what else is current. If nobody else chimes in with specific beers to search out, just have him ask someone at Binny's for some local styles that you tell him you're interested in.

Pipeworks BA beers are the best beers available now in the city IMO, but you have to go to their Dojo, which is very likely not convenient for your friend.

Have him go to a Binnys, preferably the one in Lincoln Park (they have a taproom with some good stuff on draft - and you can drink while
    You shop).

I’d say grab a A 4-pack if central waters BA barleywine and maybe Ninja v Unicorn by Pipeworks if you wanna gonthe IPA route.

The only thing with IPAs is, almost everywhere in the country has great access to IPAs.

Yup, good ipas everywhere, esp. in MA. He offered, and I have been getting him lots of alchemist from my bike trips in VT.

If you're not opposed to bombers, there should be some interesting Pipeworks IPAs floating around. You can check out what's for sale at the dojo to get a sense of what might be available at Binny's. A lot of this stuff sits on the shelves by me, but might sell out faster in the city.
