I'm taking a trip to Chicago in mid July. I will be staying near O'hare for a couple days(tagging along with wife for work) and downtown over the weekend. I'm coming from Wichita Kansas and am wanting to visit a few breweries that I wouldn't otherwise have the option of trying. Any help on what might be close to O'hare will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, nothing is close to O'Hare. It's the busiest airport in the country, so it's basically hotels and chain restaurants.

If you don't try to venture into the city at rush hour, you can be at a number of good places in 15 min.

Revolution Brewing's taproom and production facility is right off the highway, the their brewpub is right off the EL/subway line that goes to ohare.

    My recommendations would be

    Revolution
    Half Acre
    Goose Island

I'm sure you'll get some other super small and new breweries that people will recommend, but these guys have been at it a while, and are the heavy hitters in Chicago for a reason. They all make world class beer.

I second everything said. There are two Goose Island locations and at least for the time being they are very different. If you head to the city during the early part of the week, you will have to go to Goose Island Clybourn (the original GI) as Fulton is only open Thurs.-Sun. From O'hare, take the L's Blue Line in and get off around Division and just grab Uber the rest of the way. You could go all the way in and transfer to the Red Line and get fairly close, but why deal with the hassle when Uber is so cheap? Revolution and Half Acre aren't too far away, although you will have to Uber or grab a taxi to get there. If I were you, I'd just enjoy the beer and food at GI and call it a done deal. If you do make the trek up towards the other places, get the Uber driver to stop at Beer Temple if you want to shop for something to take home. You may also want to check out Lagunitas while you are in town.

Thank you for the help. i was already looking at Half Acre. I'll be there Thursday-Monday so I guess I'll hit up Fulton.

Just so I didn't confuse you, only the GI Clybourn location has food, but you are welcome to BYOF to Fulton St.. There's nothing around, but I'm pretty sure I've seen both pizza and Jimmy John's delivered there.

Fulton St. will also have a food truck there at times.

Church Street Brewing in Itasca isn't too far from O'Hare, but you'll need a taxi, or the Metra.
