All - my buddy and I are heading to Chicago and neither have been there before. We are staying a couple blocks from Wrigley field. Can anybody give some good recommendations for bars (especially where to get some great local beer), beers to try, breweries or restaurants. I have heard rumors of Three floyds, does that make its way to Chicago? Thank you!
There are a lot of threads very similar to tours so search this forum if you don't get all the answers you're looking for. Three Floyd's is all over Chicago. If you're looking for a particular beer I would check out beermenus.com, and call first because it's not always totally accurate. You can get their easier to find beers at Binnys and most bottle shops. In Lakeview I would check out Dryhop brewery. Revolution is great and a couple miles west in the Logan square neighborhood. Some beer focused bars near Wrigleyville are beer bistro, beermiscious and Sheffields. But there are a ton of bars in wrigleyville and you'll probably be able to have a local craft handle at most of them. Enjoy the trip!
To piggy back on this (rather than start a new thread), I'm heading to Ikea with my fiance this weekend (Bollingbrook). Any good bottle shops in the area?
Binny's is in the Bolingbrook Promenade on the other side of Boughton Rd. It's one of their smaller stores, but still has a decent selection.
I second the Goose Island brewpub in Wrigleyville as well as Binny's being the best bottle shop in Bolingbrook.
Half Acre is pretty close to Wrigley. The Globe, Fountainhead are a couple other bars to add to what others have said. Bottles and Cans, Beer Temple and West Lakeview Liq are great spots to grab bottles (all relatively close).
I'm always going to suggest Local Option. 12 minute cab ride from Wrigley. Sure, going to three floyds is a good trip, but they've got most of the big ones (Alpha King, ZD) on tap at the moment. Plus, right now they've got raspberry truffle abduction on tap. If you really want to try 3F and some Pipeworks stuff, its a good stop. Get ready for some death metal though.
