Chicago/South Loop tasting group

My cellar is pretty up to date here on BA. Look at my GOTS list for what I have on hand. It's probably 95% accurate (I have stuff coming and going all the time so the other 5% is in flux).

 

I'll throw my hat in here as well. Would love to crack some big bottles I've accumulated the last little bit that Should be shared. Especially with people that will appreciate them. Sounds like there's a good amount of people interested, which is good To have a pool as I'm sure not everyone's open to all times. Can't offer much in Hosting, kid kinda puts a damper on that. My schedule is hit and miss as well, but would love to meet up when time permits.

Are the people that requested access to the spreadsheet able to see and edit it? If you can, why is no one adding beers that you would like to share!?!?!

 

@AndyEdgar, good news. I just talked to Flavio, the owner of Gentile's Bottle Shop and he is pretty excited about hosting a bottle share at his place. It is at the corner of Racine and Taylor and can hold 30 people comfortably. There are a bunch of food options around there which is always a plus since everyone is going to be making a commute of some sort. He seemed pretty open to times, but mentioned Saturday afternoons since they don't usually see a bunch of traffic. Flavio and Dan, who does the beer ordering, are great guys and it has been my little gem to get bottles that fly off the shelves at other bottle shops since they are a bit off the beaten path.

Anyway, I am proposing Saturday January 31st at 3pm to start the conversation. I would still need to run that date and time past him to lock it down, but at least it gives everyone something to sound off on.

 

Got the spreadsheet biz up and running. Been working all week but headed to Cantillon in Brussels tmrw (Saturday) where they supposedly sell a lot of the goods. Want to see what I can get my hands on and also make sure it lands safely back home (fingers prematurely crossed) before getting people's hopes up. Expect my additions by Wednesday.

Great news on the venue! Any chance we could do Sunday instead? I have friends coming into town for a concert Saturday and have already agreed to host them at my place.

 

Good to have lofty goals but you might be setting yourself up for failure with this one With that said, would it be inconceivable to have the inaugural bottle share theme be white whales/top 250 beers?

 

Saturday probably wouldn't work too well for me as well.
But that venue sounds awesome!

 

For those going to Brussels tomorrow I will be at Cantillon around 10 and will head out to Moeder Lambic Fontainas around 5 PM. Ill be meeting up with a forum member too so if you guys want to come on over as well then well the more the merrier

Ok, @Canada_Dan found me wandering around in the Beer Talk forum. I requested permission to access the spread sheet.

 

If there aren't too many people involved already, I'd love to join. I'm available either the 24th or 25th and have some pretty snazzy bottles that I could contribute to the cause as well. Might I be granted access to the sacred spreadsheet?
