If it's anything like black hole necromancer, consult a doctor before consuming. I split it with my wife prior to going to a wedding...whoo boy, bad idea. Could feel my heart trying to escape my chest.

Greenbush Dilusion is also floating around Chicago. Binny'a Lakeview had a few four packs (I believe they were on sale for $20.99) and had a few bottle of Chocolate Caliente if anyone is looking for additional good stouts to drink over the holidays.

No one has time to reply as they are rushing to Binny's to grab a bottle of Chocolate Caliente.

I had the same issue with their Clovis Blood, a similar Bourbon Barrel Aged ice coffee in bombers that they did. Thought I was going to be on the news "Man died in the prime of life from an iced coffee overdose that sent him into cardiac arrest."

Greenbush Delusion is a phenomenal beer. The price is great- 48oz of BA beer for $21?

I saw it at Binny's yesterday and passed due to the volume of BA beers I currently have. I would've picked up a bomber but don't need that much beer sitting around right now.

Black Note is out there too, I had my bottle last night and wasn't as impressed as when I last had it a couple years ago. Not sure if my palette has changed or if there are so many other great BA options out there now.

I've only had it at FoBAB (grabbed a bottle yesterday to share with my gf), so will take another crack at it now, but my initial feeling was that it was a well integrated and tasty beer, but didn't really have that "it" factor that makes a beer standout.

To make a bourbon comparison, it was like a really good "standard" bourbon (something like a Blanton's, for example) where I'm looking for something more on the bleeding edge of flavor (a William Larue Weller or Four Roses Single Barrel Select).

Does anyone know why Chicago doesn't get Epic's beers?

I was in Wisconsin on Saturday and managed to get a bottle of Big Bad Baptisa which I hear is excellent. Would love to see them in Chicago though.

    Aren't they in Texas?

On one hand it'd be great if they were in Chicago, but they might get lost in the sea of options here. Especially since they might not be "rare" enough. :flushed:

It is one of the few options I get when I come back to MI that isn't in Chicago, so it's kind of a treat.

This was my assumption as well. If Sixpoint had to pull out because they didn't feel like they were making enough of a dent in Chicago, I would imagine these guys might be hesitant to jump in as well.

WI is close enough to Chicago, anyway!

My grandparents have a place in WI, I just don't have a specific reason to go to MI (that isn't beer-related)!

Epic started in Utah, didn't they? Utah is full of Mormons. Mormons are still sore at Illinois for The Illinois Mormon War in the 1840s which saw them getting kicked out. Perhaps Epic feels Illinois still doesn't show enough religious tolerance to accept a Big Bad Baptist....

Clearing out some of the beers I've been buying lately since I'm not drinking in January. Some brief thoughts...

Big Bad Baptista was fan freakin tastic
Malevolence is just as good this year as it was last year
    Drago was very solid
That whiskey barrel aged pentagram was surprisingly good, not sure I'd pay the price again but interesting beer no doubt
Sadly vanilla abduction was a bit unbalanced for me, odd because I usually love the abduction series
    Big Hugs is so solid
The BA oatmeal from Pollyanna was pretty weak
The latest batch of Dino Smores was just plain not good IMO
The bottle of Abraxas was much more cinnamon heavy than what I had on tap, still great but I preferred what I had on tap
    Crack the Skye was awesome.

I think that rounds out the winter stouts I had. Was a great stout year in Chicago overall, we are beyond spoiled for options.

Nice summary @HawksBeerFan. The Pipeworks BA release beers I had on tap at the bottle shop were solid (only 1 oz tastes so hopefully the bottles match the taps). Hopefully you had a chance to pick up a Jones or Hyper dog.

Anyone know what's next for releases in Chicago for the month of January?

I was able to get all three! I actually had Jones Dog and Hyper Dog on tap a few weeks ago and thought Hyper Dog was superb. Jones Dog I didn't get as much coconut as I would've thought but it was still good.

I guess I should add that I was blown away by barrel aged Darkness, thought this year's BCBS regular was the best of all the variants (really let down by coffee, Prop was interesting to me but not something I'd buy a bottle of).

Finally, Lizard of Koz was a really cool expereience if not my favorite beer.
