    Both good questions. I think last year it was also 9.3% and they used Tempelton Rye barrels, but no idea as to base abv% and duration in barrels.

    Can you provide examples of Chicagoland ones? There are a lot of breweries I overlook, so if someone is making similar quality vanilla ba stouts here, I'd be interested to try them.

    I personally think Vanilla Vlad and the latest BA Neckbeard Nectar are much better. I thought the Vanilla Rye Dosvidanya was solid, maybe not quite as good but much more accessible (not Chicagoland but it got distributed up here).. Also, even though it's not BA, I think the Vanilla Bean Spirit beats it out.

    Came here to mention BA Vanilla Vlad the 2nd myself. I'm not sure it's more of a vanilla bomb than Madagascar at its best, but I've found it more consistent overall.

    It's not in Chicago but is in the general area, Pudgy by Pulpit Rock is the best vanilla bomb I've ever had and it really isn't close.

    Avery's Vanilla Bean Stout is pretty solid too. Had it a little while back and liked it enough for a bump. Not a Chicagoland beer though.

    Heard people liked the Vanilla Drago, where's usually a good spot to find it? Would the best place be the Wild Oinon brewpub?

    Check DG and Oak Brook. They're probably out but DG still had maybe 8 or 10 when I got mine last night. Willowbrook is definitely out and Glen Ellyn only had one left.

    Just a heads up for those who live in the area of Noble Square/ East Village/Ukrainian Village area- there were 3 bottles of Madagascar left as of an hour ago at Noble Grape. $28 plus tax if your into that tap of thing.
