Chicago Stout Releases (2018)

I'm not sure about this year's but I'm 99% sure last year's was barrel aged. There was a thread on it but I can't seem to find it at the moment....

Upon edit: there is one listed as bourbon barrel aged vanilla bean stout if you look under Avery's beers.

 

The Avery Vanilla is barrel aged. Unless they're lying on the label.

 

Glad to hear this, grabbed myself a bottle a week ago, thought the $15 price I couldn't pass up even though I've never had it.

I'm hoping to find Dosvidanya in the burbs; 'Genos/Otter Creek' in Elgin, or the BG Binnys, let me know if you see it or anything good.

 

Plenty at Buffalo Grove binnys, also have 3-4 bottles of super shake.

Any idea if Imperial Mexican Biscotti Cake Break will be hitting shelves in Chicago? Apparently it's been on shelves for a while already on the East coast

 

I grabbed a Dosvidanya at Algonquin binnys last week. Was at customer service and was one of two bottles visible. Only had bourbon barrel, not rye whiskey.

Not too familiar with what geno's normally carries (honestly don't like them as they wanted to charge me extra for using a credit card there and have yet to go back) but I frequent otter creek and I can't remember seeing destihl on their shelves. So not sure if the Dosvidanya window is closed, but it at least hit binnys out there already

 

Last year I feel like Dosvidanya trickled out for a while/was distributed more than once/was held back by certain beer places (not sure which). I saw it on and off for something like a month, so hopefully for you guys out there still trying to get it, it'll be around (I hear the Rye is amazing, so I may keep my eye out for that myself).

Speaking of things that have been around (at least in the burbs), has anyone seen Xocoveza Charred in the city yet? I'm really hoping to grab a bottle after striking out last year.

 

Had the Rye Dosvidanya last weekend with a friend. It was VERY unique, unlike any stout I've had. Notes of cedar, leather & some chocolate.

It wasn't the best stout I've ever had, but it was so out of the norm for the style that it's certainly worth trying (if you can find it; I sure didn't, my buddy got lucky somewhere downtown).

 

I saw it last week or the week before on someone's Instagram feed I'm pretty sure...maybe Bottles & Cans? So, I think it's around, or has been around.

 

Yeah, shit, you're right. I remember seeing that, just haven't seen it anywhere else. Grrr...

Popped one last night. Don't be upset you missed it. Last year's much better.

 

I've liked regular Hunter when I had it, but I had Vanilla and thought it was terrible. However, that was at FOBAB, so take it for what it's worth (if anything).
