I picked up the Dark Secret 4 pack from Brickstone that hit Binny's this weekend...2 cans of the Dark Secret, 1 can of Raspberry Tiramisu Dark Secret and 1 can of Irish Cream Dark Secret. All 12 oz cans, which is a great format for these beers, methinks. All were aged in Buffalo Trace barrels...it says so right on the cans, which usually isn't the case on this kind of release!

Irish Cream was the winner for me; great vanilla & milk chocolate flavors that hit the Baileys vibes they were going for.

My complaint on all 3 is that the beers are a bit thin for the style, and in the case of the regular version the base beer is dominated by the barrel a bit. The Raspberry Tiramisu was a bit artificial / syrup-y for my taste.

All in all, I'm glad I tried them, but Irish Cream is the only one I'd seek out again.

Yes. I have gone through two bottles so far. It is excellent and obviously the price is 2nd to none. The barrel is there, FFF knows what they are doing. Just a great, no adjunct stout.

PSA for all you city folk: In Capone's "We have this week's Hop Butcher" Instagram photo today, you can clearly see many bottles of Prairie BA Weekend and some Dosvidanya of some type in the background. In case anyone was looking for those.

Interesting. Cheaper than the 12 oz bottles that are not DB. Weren't those usually $7/per?

Yup. They still had singles of the rye bottles and were still priced at 6.99. So with this being 25.99 and a DB to boot I would say this is the cheaper option, if you were to buy 4 of the bottles.

Love the Rye Hipster and what it is, so looking forward to opening a can soon, but new Revolution cans take priority tonight. (oh, sorry...not stouts)

Another stout with coffee and maple that I picked up today is the BA Super! Imperial Smells Like Bean Spirit. It's about 77 cents more per ounce, and in one 750ml bottle instead of four 12oz cans, but hoping it's a BIG stout with some barrel and is worthy of sharing with 1-2 friends soon. (in the most disinfected, antiseptic, distanced way possible ). I'll look for your reviews here and on Untappd. CHEERS!

The Odd Side / Binny's Double Barrel Rye Hipster Brunch stout is fantastic.

Up front it tastes like a banana bread muffin with chocolate chips. Mild wood notes, and the bacon / maple is muted until it hits room temperature, but...I mean, have you ever had a banana bread muffin with chocolate chips?

    Pastry stout excellence.

Already had two cans - went down WAY too fast. If you like regular Rye Hipster, you'll love this one!
