What liquor laws are you wanting to know about? Pretty much if you are 21 and up you can buy it. No ABV restrictions. Beer and liquor sold in the same place.

I dk about Schaumburg particularly, but Binny's and various Jewel stores might be good for regular, maybe barley. Check the last few and current pages of the Bourbon County thread in the Great Lakes forum. If there's no info posted already I'm sure someone can help out.

Illinois liquor laws aren't anywhere near as bad as in some other states that I've read about here on BA. Most municipalities have a time before which alcohol can't be sold, but that's been getting less restrictive over the years. I've never seen growler fill stations at retail stores, like people from other states have mentioned. I've seen growler fill stations only at bars/taprooms. And, of course, no open alcohol inside the car. In the trunk is OK, but not in the same compartment as the driver. So I'm guessing that means that if you have a hatch-back or SUV, the only place to store a half-drunk bottle of wine at dinner is on the roof. Finally, I can never figure out the rules on buying single bottles of beer. I can buy single 33 cl bottles of Belgian beer, but not single 12 oz. American beers. Although that could just be because American beers are shipped in 6-paks and the stores don't want to deal with gobs of odd-ball quantities floating around.

In the suburbs, Binny's is probably your best bet for the widest range of beers.
