Will be staying downtown at the Peninsula on East Superior and have a function at Mon Ami Gabi Saturday evening on Lincoln Park West....are there any good bars around either? I've stayed downtown before and Clark Street Ale House was the best I could find at the time, but that was a while back....any suggestions would be great!

There's a Rock Bottom and Jake Melnick's by the Peninsula, the latter usually has some exotic stuff on tap.

You aren't terribly far driving-wise from Goose Island brewpub, Paddy Long's, and the Local Option from Mon Ami Gabi

Downtown: Farmhouse is on Chicago, 2-3 blks. west of Clark St. Ale House.

On the way to Local Option on Lincoln/Webster is Bacino's, small place that has good taps.
Smallbar Fullerton is in that area, and Bricks is on Lincoln just south of Armitage.

A short cab ride can get you to a bunch of other places, but those mentioned are closest.

Get a quick cab to Haymarket or Goose Island Clybourn and you would go thirsty.

Not to disagree with a Giacometti fan, but I'm gonna haveta side with the Local Option crowd (surprise, surprise). Let's also not forget SmallBar Fullerton and McGee's, both a relatively short walk from the Option. (Plus, if one so desired, Clybourn ain't exactly a trek away from the DePaul area...)
