Visiting Chicago (from STL) next week, trying to plan my trip and I didn't see any recent threads that were meeting my needs (please post links??) except for <http://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/good-bars-in-chicago-near-hotel-lincoln.166831/>, but I'm not concerned about the proximity of good options, that's what money is for. I've decided to open a poll up with some of the different options I've found/been recommended so far (or at least until I run out of polling slots).. I may also bring bottles of side project and perennial along for the trip, just in case of emergencies. thanks.
What emergencies do you plan on coming upon. You are coming to one of the greatest cities in the world, you aren't going Bismarck, North Dakota. That said, you can hit up Haymarket in the loop, Half Acre and Revolution which are on the north west side of the city. A lot of liquor stores carry Pipeworks beers, no tap room for them yet but their beers are definitely a must try. Local option in Lincoln Park is great. Hop leaf is kind of a trek up north but worth a trip.
Not worried about a shortage of good beer...a qualifying emergency might be: A short notice bottle share IP trade Out of money
Pipeworks, Pipeworks, Pipeworks. Make that happen. And don't forget to hit Solemn Oath on your way back home!
Piece- must stop, though their pizza is better than their beer. Not to say I haven't had good beers there. Township is also a cool bar. A bit low key, but still some great bottle options. Pipeworks for sure. And of course 3 Floyd's if your trip home takes you past the turnoff. Cheers!
I forgot to add.. Kuma's Corner. Make sure to check them out before you leave the city. http://www.kumascorner.com/ I'm pretty sure it was mentioned, but Goose Island Wrigleyville (Clark St) is a good starting point. There are tons of great places nearby as well and quick travels via taxi or the L's red line. Binny's usually has a good selection, but depending on location, many of the better brews are gone the day they enter the store by social media hoarders(really bad in the western 'burbs). Three Floyds and limited Goose Island/Founders releases more than others.
@brewmance82 Awesome Picture! @ThePorterSorter Goose Island on Clyborn as suggested by @Drucifer is a god idea and the Binnys is right behind it.
Pipeworks has nothing to visit yet. If you have a car, 3 Floyds is 8 miles from chicago. (or 30 miles from the part of Chicago you will likely be in.)
