Hello everyone. I'm hoping to get some suggestions for breweries to visit this weekend. I'm staying in a hotel near Grant Park in downtown. Also, where would be the best place to buy Pipeworks beer in cans? Is there a good place that has a local selection of craft on tap in downtown area (any subway stops would be helpful as well). Thanks in advance!
Pipeworks = Binnys - There are like 15 of them in the City. I believe South Loop Store is closest for you. Half Acre Revolution Goose Island - Clyborne and Tap Room
The Loop itself is kinda meh for bars (basically it's mainly Subways and Starbucks) BUT the best spots in the area are: Howells & Hood (on michigan just across the river) Franklin Tap(near Willis Tower) The Gage Stocks & Blondes (wells and washington) *also open late and on weekends Warehouse Liquors on Wabash in South Loop is also a nice bottle shop. ~all of these are within a 15 minute walk of Grant Park pretty much. If you're willing to venture another 15-20 minute either by cab or El, you'll have many more options.
First Draft downtown has a pretty solid local selection. In terms of bottle shops, Warehouse Liquors and Printers Row Wine Shop. Don't limit yourself to downtown though, if you're willing to take a 10 min taxi ride there are many better options elsewhere.
I've heard Villain Bar Chicago is a new restaurant/bar downtown with tons of craft selection. Saw that they even had cantillon on the bottle list when they first opened! Monk's Pub usually has some decent bottles and drafts but pretty mediocre bar food/ambiance. If you can make it up north go to West Lakeview Liquors, Bottles & Cans, Beer Temple and Capone's for local bottle shops. And take others advice on breweries (half acre is a must visit)
Can anyone suggest a spot in Lincoln park to watch college football while enjoying a solid tap list? Thanks!
Hey guys, I just wanted to give you some feedback from my visit this weekend. Enjoyed my visits to Revolution and Half Acre. I thought the food at Revolution was really good and like the Anti-Hero IPA best. I thought Daisy Cutter was a little disappointing. Visited Binny's and got to try Pipeworks Lizard King and Warbird. Really liked both (especially Lizard King) and would seek those out again. A guy that worked at Binny's also suggested Mikerphone Brewing's I Want My IPA. It was a nice surprise. It came in a big 24 oz can and was really good. Thanks again everyone for the suggestions.
