Will be in Chicago next weekend staying at the Magnificent Mile Marriot wondering what breweries, beer stops are nearby?
Here's a good start: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...cagoland-resource-thread.561956/#post-5912301 Not a ton of breweries around the Mag Mile. Forbidden Root might be your best route, but that will take a train or uber. Not a ton of bottle shops around that area either. Printers Row is one that comes to mind, but Binnys off Grand will have the most options. Taprooms: Monks and Howells and Hood, and Franklin Tap.
A few west loop options: Haymarket, Cruz Blanca for breweries Lone Wolf, Kumas, Kaiser Tiger for bars
@SMason - what @Bbear said - Forbidden Root. Just take the Chicago Ave bus west and get off at Forbidden Root. Other plus is that they might have the (?) best gastropub food in the city to go along with some of the best beer. If you have more time, I strongly suggest a "brown line extravaganza" - Corridor Brewing at Southport stop, Dovetail at Irving Park stop, head up to Half Acre on Lincoln, etc... 3 - in 1 day - completely possible. Have fun...
Forbidden Root is also walking distance to Goose Island taproom, which is always a great place to grab a beer. They have something cool on draft fairly regularly, but they have weird hours.
Wait, isn’t this the thread? https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...icagoland-resource-thread-spring-2018.562877/ I don’t know - I’ve been on hiatus.
Don't forget Warehouse Liquors, who have a good beer program as well, and if you're going to Forbidden Root and Goose Fulton, definitely, definitely go to Great Central. Their beers are so good, they have offerings from many of the breweries that they contract for, and the taproom has a lot of fun stuff to do (and a good vibe).
Where is the best place in the Chicago area that I can get good barrel aged stouts either on draft or in bottle for on site consumption? Are the henna stouts ever available?
Goose Island Fulton location. Pricey as hell, but as of Friday they had Vanilla Rye for on-site consumption. 0% chance you'll see any Henna's on draft.
Check revolution’s two locations. Jamo-nilla is pretty good. https://revbrew.com/visit/brewpub#tap-list Also look at links taproom (up-to-date online)
It would be quite a drive but Hailstorm usually has some version of Vlad on tap. If it were me though I'd just start checking taplists when I got to town - Links Taproom, Hopcat, etc.
When are you in town? Looks like goose Fulton & wood will have BCS 16 and BCBS 17 on tap at open today, as well as brasserie noir, some cooper projects, and some sour sisters.
