I've been wondering on this as there was a recent BA thread on Mahrs brewing here in the States (brewing out of Malibu Brewing Company, I believe). Their social media had mentioned 'soon' when asked about Eastern distribution. I think they do some small draft/canned packaging runs in CA at the moment. Looking forward to this.

It's funny, because I saw it listed on the Binny's website last week or the week before, then a couple days later it was gone.

Picked up Hopewell's Italian Ice Citrus Lager. It's basically a lemon shandy, which may turn off some. But it goes down very nicely of a hot day.

To paraphrase someone in the past, "Sold in Chicagoland, sampled in Chicagoland, Chicagoland Lager." No?

Besides, a collab with a Michigan brewery helps balance things out.

Not a bad Maibock -- especially in what seemed like a pretty lax Maibock season this year.

Picked up that Binny's x Hopewell collab called Noble Device pilsner. Pretty old school pils using Saaz, Spalt, Tettnang, and Hallertau Mittelfruh hops. Very clean, earthy and bready and at 5.8 abv it's borderline crushable.

Near to 6%? Yeah -- that would crush me after a couple 16 ounce cans!

Im not a lager guy especially not a light lager guy, but I’m digging Eagle Park’s Muskego Light. Great light but full flavored garage beer.

Enjoyed the latest RT Helles recipe on tap at the source last night -- quite nice.

    Pilsner none too shabby either.

Quite impressed with Dovetail’s Pils - a different beast from , which is my current favorite. I have a pack of each, both canned mid- June. Thinking of doing a side by side later in the week.

    Personal local favorite these days.

An interesting blend of 3 hop varietals and nice doughy malts as a backbone.

Dang, I gotta try this still. Idk what they do with their CZ pale (czech pils), Helles and Festbier, but the malt character on their beers is so deep and rich. Btw, a little birdie told me that they just brewed their festbier recently, so let's get excited for that!

I saw them brewing what looked to be a Märzen in a collab...

That would be our Collab with beer on the wall. Basically a mashup of ESB and marzen. Will eventually be on cask, draft and limited cans. Very excited for that one. And yes, Fest is brewed and just about to enter it's lagering phase.

Interesting. I wondered what was meant by an influence of two brewing traditions (paraphrasing).

I thought you were playing off the influence of English malting on Sedlmayr and Dreher during their working trip to England. But yes -- can't wait to try this one.

BTW -- a *true* ESB like you guys brewed previously, or more like a Fuller's toffee and fruit ester ESB?

I really need to get up to there one of these days…

just to split hairs, since Fuller’s coined ESB, wouldn’t theirs be the *true* ESB?:slight_smile:

Yeah, it's more complicated than that.

"In England today, “ESB” is a Fullers trademark, and no one thinks of it as a generic class of beer. It is a unique (but very well-known) beer that has a very strong, complex malt profile not found in other examples, often leading judges to overly penalize traditional English strong bitters. In America, ESB has been co-opted to describe a malty, bitter, reddish, standard-strength (for the US) British-type ale, and is a popular craft beer style. This may cause some judges to think of US brewpub ESBs as representative of this style."
