Does Mosaic Gummy hit distro? I'll be in town tomorrow and planned on stopping by South Loop Binnys, would rather go to LP but plans/logistics makes South Loop the best option.

I am not one scared away by price whatsoever, but $10 (pre-tax) for 25.36 ounces of an IPA doesn't seem decent to me. Bright w/Citra is $4.05/16 ounces after tax. $25.24 for 64 ounces of Hubbard's Cave. Throw 10% tax on that and it's $27.76 vs. $16.20. That's 71% more expensive.

$10 has always been a pretty standard price for a bomber for the last 7 some years. Seems fair to me.

If you like paying 70% more for your beer, that's your prerogative.

Maybe you prefer taxis to Uber and Lyft too.

I don't think anyone likes paying $10 for a bomber, but if it's A) the only method in which the beer is being sold and B) pretty decent for that particular form factor, I can see the argument. I've always been fond of Lagunitas and Stone bombers for the same reason ($6-8 bombers).

But again, I still pass on bombers/750s for 4-packs.

That argument doesn't hold water. If you are only consuming 25oz, then it is 62% cheaper than the 64oz of cans of which 39oz will got to waste. With your reasoning I bet you get up sold all the time -"If you buy 5, you'll get 1 more at 50% off!"

Why is everyone complaining about paying $10 for a decent IPA in 25oz bottle? My questions is why did you buy it in the first place?

V6 and 7 were pretty amazing. V8 was awful, IMO.

can we all just agree that marz should be the standard for pricing and be done with this trivial tangent?

Except at Tree House (and Trillium and Night Shift, etc.) you can buy by the can. So it actually does hold water. You can buy as many ounces as you'd like, in 16 oz increments. So no matter how you look at it, $10 for 25.3 ounces is overpaying. I can get 32 ounces of a Tree House double IPA for CHEAPER than I can get 25 ounces of a Hubbard's Cave IPA. Even if I pour out 7 ounces, I still paid less money.

    Try again.

Or, you know, like has been said 100 times: get some friends and share beer.

We are saying we don't buy it because of the format. It's a rip off, plain and simple.

Sadly, no. It’s been Bean Spirit, Slim Hazy, and Mad Flavor. There hasn’t been an 8% Beer in that format yet.

By that rationale, every crowler at Corridor and MoRE is a rip off.

And unfortunately, nobody in Chicago lives next to Tree House or Trillium or Night Shift, so that argument really doesn't apply to what we are talking about here in Chicagoland where breweries don't sell one 16oz can at a time of that caliber beer. I've bought 750s of Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus and Kriek for $9 each at Cantillon but that means nothing when I try to buy similar beers in Chicagoland, especially when in a different size format.

The big bottle format isn't ideal, but if I like the beer I'll still buy it. Don't really see what the big deal is.

The Cantillon argument is apples to oranges. It's the same format, just different pricing. We're not talking about a $6 bomber in Boston costing $10 here.

Eventually, we should be able to purchase 16 ounce cans, by the can. That's where it should be headed. I will use my power as a consumer to drive the market that way.

Old timers like @HouseofWortship can continue to purchase the bombers but clearly 16 ounce cans are where this style, at a minimum, is headed. Revolution did away with bombers for their Deth's Tar offerings. Half Acre is canning Big Hugs.

Why should we, as consumers, pay more per ounce?

You play more sides than Trump. "China's bad!" (Goes to China) "I love China!".

So if you are using your power as a consumer you are boycotting everything that is not a 16oz single packaged can?

My only point is refuting your allegation that a $10 bomber is more expensive than a $16 four pack......

Coming down to Chicago Saturday for Pere Ubu. Hitting Corridor and Dryhop for sure, potentially Forbidden Root..all of which I am familiar with and have been to numerous times. Any other must hit breweries that I am neglecting?

Good timing with Corridor having Van Hazen and Squeeze It on and Forbidden Root having Frame & Canvas with Ghost Tropic as well. You’re off to a great start. This is a particularly good weekend to go to the Revolution taproom. They have BA can releases but also draft only variants. You have the haze figured out but that’s a different way to go.

Dovetail if you're at all into German and Czech styles. One of the best in the country at these things.

Off Color just opened their taproom, and I'm a big fanboy of theirs.

I would strongly stress that you should do Forbidden Root in lieu of DryHop. DryHop is fine (and I realize it's fairly close to Corridor), but Forbidden Root is way better. Personally, from an overall beer standpoint, Forbidden Root is better than Corridor, too; they're far more versatile, though which is better at NEIPAs is basically personal preference; both are great)
