I never got the second batch of GB, but I loved the first, throughout Mellotron was really good and as I finish up the 4-pack of Reply Hazy that one has grown on me. Its not as good as the other two, but I liked can #4 much better than can #1.

Hailstorm has definitely improved and I like that they've kept up the slightly more bitter hop profile - keeps them from tasting like all the others.

For me, I am inclined to like Hubbards Cave, but the constant carbonation issues and inconsistency by batch leaves the jury out on them.

I was severely disappointed in Marz's first attempt at the NE style IPA and at the price for a bomber, I won't be revisiting them unless it looks like they've really gotten it together.

I thought Hubbard's fixed the carbo issue? I haven't had a bottle in a while, so I'm not sure on that one.

In terms of Mars, I thought the bottled version was a pretty faithful NE IPA, although I liked the tap version better for two reasons: 1) I'm a sucker for neon yellow-orange beer, and 2) I thought that the beer tasted like a nice midway point between a West Coast IPA and an NE one (opaque, juicy, but with enough bitterness and midrange feel to keep it refreshing).

I think I may have overrated my first can of Reply Hazy, but yeah, having had the other 3, I think it grew on me somewhat (the 2nd can really underwhelmed me). GB1 was definitely HB's best, and probably top 3 in the city for me. Never had Mellotron.

I'm betting its QA. I had the last batch and wasn't any more hazy than normal. Tastes the same as usual. Its a PA, not a NE IPA.

I wish I had gotten the Marz beer on tap. Seems like that was pretty different. I had two bottles and both fell far short (in my taste) of the NE style. It lacked the appearance at all and the taste was much closer to a classic IPA.

I think the bottle version was softer than the on-tap one (which is why I preferred on-tap), but there's no argument that the latter looked more the part.

They're doing another batch soon, so we'll see what we get this time.

I'm having Maplewood's Charlatan on tap here at the Standard Market in Naperville. It's definitely a PA in my opinion, but nonetheless it taste great! Not sure how to add a photo though when I'm on here on my phone. I'll pick up a pack of it on my way out and compare it what it is like on draft/ in can.

Hailstorm Cirrus NE Oat IPA. Came for a glass of Lumberjack Breakfast and found a nice/new suprise available. Listening to the sweet sounds of the canning line running

Local brew command and control has been notified. Clear to send in the tactical beer preservation team. Get that line formed around the perimeter, we can't have any of these slipping into distro....

Perfect timing for me then, I'll have smuggle these back across several counties under the cover of darkness and pray I don't get stopped. Dangers of a rum runner sometimes! Catch me if you can!!

Fresh as it gets, canned today. Super hazy, smells juicy, they nailed the soft mouthfeel on this one. Pretty bitter. Off the top of my head I would guess it was more than 60 IBU that the label says. I think RAM has been the only local brewery to come close to the NE mouthfeel of Trillium and Treehouse. I feel like this beer can hang with them as far as the soft mouthfeel goes. Great stuff by Hailstorm. By far their best IPA.
