I'm tempted to pick one up, my local place has 7+ cases of the stuff. For $22.99 for a 750ml, it's a little pricy. Has anyone else had any, and what did you think? Is it worth getting, or should I pass?

isn't this the same as the normal recipe but with a special label?

If you don't pick it up this time, no biggie. Just wait another 150 yrs for the 300th Anniversary.

If this is true maybe I won't grab one!

From what I understand, it's like a weird mix between a trippel and a saison of sorts.

I really enjoyed it. Should buy Chimay more often

Does it taste any different than their normal trippel?

    It's different - stronger. (10% vs 8%)

I have a very hard time paying $25 for a tripel in concept, particularly one that is only getting decent reviews. This one will probably linger on shelves for a very long time given the cost, so no rush...

So it's likely places will put it on a rather nice sale in the next month or so?

This is a different beer & new beer not one of the regular Chimay’s relabelled.
I have had one – I wasn’t a big fan of it honestly, too much carbonation, some banana, fake citrus, white sugar triple in the beginging, the ending was way too heavy on the esters, herbs & almost cleaning products.
You have to take into account that I am not a big Chimay fan – it does require a fondness of Blond Belgians with a lot of esters, spices & herbs – if you are into Chimay and all that I would get one. It contains coriander and cardemom & you feel that.

Yeah, but you have to factor in a bit of "this cost me $25 and I'm going to like it damnit". I'm sure it's a good beer, just not sure if it's worth the cost...

It does. A bit more like a mix between a tripel and a saison.
