I have a small chip in a pint glass that I own. It isnt particularly sharp or anything, but I would prefer it be the safest it can be. Any advice on what I can do about it (sand it, put some veneer on it or something?), or should I just accept it and chuck it? Thanks.
Yeah, just hit the edges with some fine emery paper until it feel smooth to your fingers (> tongue, lips). You might learn to avoid the defective area and probably won't want to serve beer to a guest in it. Not normally a safety concern but if there's still a question about it, stick it on your desk and fill it with pens/pencils. One would think there's some nostalgic value to this particular pint glass if you're considering repairing it, if not (as "chuck it" implies) shaker pints are cheaply made and not very "collectable" in most cases, especially a chipped one.
You could also try taking one of those small LP gas torches and melt the edge smooth. If you don't have a torch then I wouldn't bother with the repair.
Its just a glass that I got free at a tasting event. It wouldn't bother me not to have it anymore, but I like to fix broken things rather than throw them out whenever possible.
