Anyone know how much this sells for at the Bruery? Looking to trade for one and want to make sure I offer equal value. Thanks!

Around $40 I believe? I could be wrong, I traded for it last year and I think that's the price they told me.

$34/bottle for RS members this year.

$40 MSRP, but $34 with the discount if you're a Reserve Society member.

$32 with the discount of kings.

But really, for beers like this it doesn't matter. People are going to value it differently (some will want sticker, others won't), so don't sweat it.

I would tend to agree with you, except that "sticker price" is not real. No one paid $40 for these.

Some people want to add the DLD ticket into the cost. If you don't like the way someone values it, don't trade with them!

True there is no sticker price. It's not for sale at the Bruery. RS and Hoarders paid for the privilege of ordering these. It's nice to acknowledge that even with the discount it costs almost twice as much as many other traded 750s.

No one paid $40 for them. They just had to pay $295 for the ability to buy them at $34.

Why isn't the "sticker price" real? RS members pay $25.50 for BT, but a limited number that goes public goes for "sticker price" of $30. It would be the same for CR. As has been said before though, who really cares? No one should trade exact $4$ anyway, it should just to be in the ballpark.

Why is sticker price real in this instance? Msrp is in non-existant here. The access cost of membership is a tenuous one to me. Access costs should then include my gas, hotel, etc. for a release at Jackie O's for example. That was what it cost for me to access those bottles. Why is that taboo, but the singular cost of RS membership OK? I value my CR bottles at what I paid for them. They are far from whales at this point with >10,000 being produced this year.

There is a for reals sticker price though, you can see it when you put it in the cart. If this were up for sale like a massive shelf turd in the forthcoming anniversary month or the 12 days of xmas, it would likely be $40.

Based on your reasoning is my CR worth less because I ball outrageous and the alphabet boys got me under surveillance? Hoarders get 20% off.

Ultimately like everyone else said, these considerations largely wont matter, unless you field adorable HUNA4CR or KBS x 3 for Cr offers.

Your question about the value of RS and HS bottles is a good one.

I don't tend to haggle over a few bones. I just don't buy the $40 msrp argument.

I would say that anything more than $5 is note worthy for trading value $4$. That's another beer. I would say 32-34 should be considered the value here. Which is already higher than most other limited release stouts.

Good luck getting a trade value of $32 on CR - Hoarders are a small percentage of society members. As it is you won't find many CR holders who will let it go at $34, but at least I can understand that argument. But even then, between membership fees and the high CA taxes, it will still cost anybody a pair of $20 bills to obtain a bottle, even ignoring all travel/gas/shipping/whatever arguments.

That said, I'm pretty sure most trades for CR don't come down to the difference between $34 and $40 anyway. The more limited the beer, the less exact dollars tend to matter in trades.

I'd expect Eclipses to be valued at retail price even by people who bought futures. If CS gives a discount to their RS, I've never bothered to quibble with anyone about it. I'd expect HF to be valued the same whether you bought it "off the shelf" or via the jacked-up price, "hold it for me" membership. On the day that the Bruery can't sell all the CR to society members, I'm sure it'll go on sale to the public for $40, just like they've done for other "Society exclusives" that didn't sell out.

With the discount & tax it comes out to be $36.72 per bottle.

I think $40 is a useful heuristic for how to value it against similarly limited beers. Sure, no one actually paid $40 for it, but no one paid $34 either: they paid $34 plus bought an RS/HS membership. This is what separates it from Eclipse futures.

Trying to agree on a price is somewhat pointless since it requires coming to an agreement on how much of a markup to add to $34 to account for the cost of membership. I personally think $40 is reasonable, but I don't expect any sort of consensus to be reached any more than I expect a consensus on the subjective value of any beer on the market.

The major difference is that typical "access costs" (gas, hotel, time, etc) are variable for each individual. I wouldn't know whether you spend $100 on gas or $5. The "access cost" for CR is fixed (everyone had to pay either $295 for RS or $595 for HS). There are no variables. Everyone had to pay for that same fixed cost.

I personally think that it's silly to factor in any access costs, but it wouldn't be accurate to say that CR isn't a $40 beer when the RS/HS discounts are factored in to every other Bruery beer that are publicly available at the full, listed price.

Next month, during the Bruery's anniversary month they're going to offer a special beer each day for a small release to the public. So if one day they offer up CR for $40, does it suddenly become real? What if I buy another one and get it for $34? What if a Bruery employee trades one? Is that worth $0 because he got it for free?

We all got "free" CR with our $295/595 memberships. So no value- throw it in as a trade extra?

If you want to argue over $5 I'm not going to trade with you anyway.
