We're having our family Christmas celebration this coming Sunday, so Christmas Day will be mostly a non-event. Since my wife and I enjoy pub crawls to breweries we're considering a 2-3 day getaway with beer drinking in mind, but we're also wondering what might be open on Christmas Day. It's a long shot, but does anyone know of a brewery (or two), or even a good beer bar or restaurant with a good tap list, that will be open that day, even if it is in the late afternoon or evening when a few other types of businesses are also open? We're looking at traveling to anywhere in Michigan, northern Indiana, NW Ohio or NE Illinois, and your suggestions will dictate our itinerary. Thanks in advance.
There's a chance that Sheffield's may be open in Chicago, as well as Haymarket. I feel like they've been open in the past, but not sure if I recall that from Thanksgiving or prior years at Christmas.
Addendum to my original post: How about a Chinese restaurant that has a good beer list? Anyone know of any that might fit my travels?
Not sure where you’re at but beer cellar has opened on Xmas day before. Maybe worth a phone call if you’re in the west burbs.
I'm in Michigan, but considering the three replies so far have been in the Chicago area, if we make this trip, Chicago seems to be the place we'll go to. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the reminder. I completely forgot about that one after looking into the Sheffield's recommendation.
Hopleaf is open 365 days a year, 6 pm - 2am Christmas Day hours but the kitchen is closed. https://hopleafbar.com I believe they're even located within the NE Illinois region!
