I just moved to Portland about a month and a half ago from New England. Since I don't really want to make the 10 hour drive to Sonoma County and back (again) to visit family, it's looking like I'll be doing Christmas mostly on my own in the city. Definitely not a huge deal! I'd just love to know if there any good events or places to go on Christmas Eve or Christmas day, preferably those that involve beer. Do any of the bars or breweries throw Christmas parties?

Xmas Eve Eve Beermongers has an event going on. And they will not be closed on the other 2 days. Plus I am pretty sure Roscoe's will be open on Xmas day with good beers on tap.

I spent Christmas at Jubitz truck stop one year. There was a strip club within walking distance, and it had 30 taps of craft and $10 steaks. I was the only customer. The strippers and I just sat around watching football and bullshitting most of the day. So, boobies and beer might be an option for ya.

That's crazy, I'm surprised they were open. Don't imagine xmas day would be all that busy at a strip bar.

    Good questions...
I'll be back Christmas night. Should we have a, "no one loves us" bottle share?

It's been 12 years, I don't remember the name. But, if you walk out of Jubitz, turn left. Follow that road along and it makes a right hand bend. A little after, it goes under another road. I walked up the embankment, and followed that road to an intersection. There was a Micky-Ds, a Jack-in-the-Box, a gas station (am-pm?), and maybe a motel. Turn right and it's across the street.

Well from about 11am to 4pm it was the door guy, DJ, bartender, barback, cook, 4 strippers, and me. So, they didn't make bank during those hours. But a bit after 4 a couple groups of bros came in, and it looked like it was going to pick up. I went back to the truck and went to sleep, I had a 6am delivery in Seattle the next morning.

And it looks like Roscoe's will be on the day after Xmas this year.

    ==============================================

The day after Christmas will bring in the 8th year of Roscoe’s. Yes, on Friday, December 26th Roscoe’s will be celebrating their 8th year of bringing the Montavilla neighborhood great craft beer paired with mouth watering food.

There is no better way to celebrate than bringing you a phenomenal tap list with some of Roscoe’s favorite breweries and beers represented. The party will begin at 2:00 pm on December 26th. Unlike most summits the Roscoe’s 8th Anniversary Summit will be open to all styles of beer, and some great vintage brews.

Roscoe’s will also be tapping additional special kegs all weekend! Be sure to show up on Friday to have the best selection, help celebrate 8 years with the crew, and meet some of the brewers.

Some of the Breweries (and beers) on tap will include:

    • Hair of the Dog (Bourbon Fred)
    • Deschutes (The Abyss)
    • Boneyard (Notorious IIIPA)
    • Double Mountain (Sinister 7)
    • Oakshire (“8″, Super rare keg of this Oakshire anniversary beer)
    • Green Flash (Barrel Aged Super Freak)
    • Alesmith (IPA)
    • Russian River (Pliny the Elder and Supplication)
    • Elysian (Knock on wood IPA, the first beer to be aged in their new foeders)
    • Crux (Bourbon Barrel Tough Love),
    • The Commons (Special Barrel-aged beer)
    • Logsdon (Vintage Barrel Aged Seizoen Bretta)

Monger's list isn't all that great IMO, but Roscoe's looks good. Probably going to stay in this year, but might hit up roscoes.

i swear i cant even drink enough to keep up with all the events around Portland.

wandered into Baileys the other night and they were just randomly pouring a 3 year verticle of 50/50 Four Roses. couldnt even do it as my liver was still too damaged from the weekend :slight_frown:

Yeah, that's why I'm not all that broken up that I can't make it to the Beermonger's or Roscoe's event. Would love to go if I could, but it's not as if you need to wait all that long for some other great tap list or event to show up in the near future.
