I was just in Tampa and while shopping for Jai Alai, I got into a conversation with their sales manager. He told me that they were going to be distributing in NC. Sometime next year was the not-so-exact target date, but we'll see.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I only saw Jai Alai in VA, so I wonder if they'll be distributing anything else early on.

Living out east, I doubt that we'll see it here. I'll probably have to go to the Triangle to get it. If we only get Jai Alai, I'll still be one happy human being.

Not sure how far east you are, but with how highly regarded Jai Alai is, may be worth the trip to the Triangle to get the beer. Plus you can pick up others you may not be able to get. Nonetheless, the news of Cigar City coming to NC makes me excited since I've never had their beers (if it happens).

I live in Greenville and I regularly visit Sam's whenever I make it up to the Triangle.

I was at their brewery two years ago and they said that they would be shipping to NC that year. Still waiting. Always pick some up on my way to frequent trips to Florida.

I was about to say the same thing....heard this 2 or so years ago. Look forward to it if and when it finally happens....

They started distributing in Atlanta about 5-6 months ago. We have only seen Jai-Ali so far, but hope to see others in 2014. Regardless, I think it will be cans only for a while.

Guys Ive heard this rumor for 2 years now, not to be a buzz kill. They had a plan set up with Carolina Distributing (which was then bought out by Harris). Once that happened, the whole deal was scrapped.

Sorry if I sound jaded, but I really want this to happen. So a few more details are kind of necessary.

Their national sales manager told me they were coming. Like you I will believe it when it happens, but he seemed pretty definite about it to me. Till it actually happens I'll pick some up whenever I visit FL

Not sure how much you follow CCB but in the last two years they expanded their production to 60,000 bbl for next year. Prior to that, they couldn't even supply most of Florida so they of course scrapped out of state distribution until they could cover their home state. They now do that and have signed with another brew house opening in Lakeland, FL who will likely handle additional brewing of their core brands (Jai Alai in particular). I imagine you'll have a good chance of seeing it next year.

I knew about the expansions, but Ive always been reluctant to believe news of CCB entering NC.

We had been hearing they were coming since 2011 as well. All the sudden one day about a dozen cases showed up in ATL and we've kept a steady supply since.

I've spoken with someone recently who works for a SC distributor, who happened to be in FL last month working on a deal. It's not finalized, but they were told the plan was to be in both Carolinas by the end of 2014. There's no set timeline beyond that at the moment.

Yep, good ol' Carolina Craft! They still (~2 years since going out of business) have CCB listed on their website for both NC and SC in fact: http://www.carolinacraftdist.com/

Jai Alai will only be brewed at CCB.

Interesting. I would have thought the exact opposite, but it makes sense. Having to transport that much Jai Alai back to CCB to package would probably be awful to deal with.

I would think if theyre going for both SC and NC, then Tryon or Millenium would be a good idea. Now, with Millenium recent loss of a truck with an ass load of ridiculously expensive beer, I wouldnt want them to have it. Honestly, Id kind of want Mims or Harris to get CCB. They seem to be better at my store. Our Mims rep is really good, and our Harris guy has gotten much, much better. Tryon is ok, but they seem to botch things often, and Ararat is just too spotty for me (wish someone else had Thirsty Dog)--oh and Next Generation (owned by Green Man) is even more flaky.
