I'm going to Cigar City Brewing on West Spruce St in Tampa tonight. Does anyone have any recommendations on beers I should sample based on what they have on tap right now? https://cigarcitybrewing.com/whats-on-tap/?age-verified=c856709aaa
Thanks for the specific advice on. Any thoughts on what Cigar City Brewing beers stand out above the rest?
Welcome to Tampa! My buddy Jeff is spot-on, as always. The good news for you, @WillStorrs, is that CCB offers flights of their beers. When you go inside, go to the back bar where they do flights (and have more optoins than the front bar). The beers with the registration symbols are their core beers and pretty widely available around here. So, I'd recommend getting the tasting-room-only beers. As to specifics ... that's going to depend entirely on what styles you like (as Jeff was alluding to). Me telling you that I think 'Lectric Lemon is phenomenal (because I like berliners) isn't really going to be helpful to you if you love stouts and hate berliners. Feel free to BM me with your favorite styles and I'll point you specifically to which beers on the list I think you'd enjoy. Cheers!
There are tons of delicious beers on that list. The comment above was dead on. It depends on what style you enjoy. Café Con Leche is delicious. It's like having a cold brew coffee with alcohol. Vanilla Maduro on nitro. So good. Tocobaga is a personal favorite hoppy red. 'Lectric Lemon is a fantastic Berliner. Jai Alai and Invasion speak for themselves. Bourbon dark woods if you want something different (old ale) and heavier. Cranberry Grove is a delicious sour.
Only edit: try a sample of Cranberry Grove before ordering a taster or pint...the keg I tried it from was not good. So much so that I was warned before filling crowlers.
I'll throw a shout-out for Andre’s Ete d’Houblon. Massively dry-hopped saison. Worth a glass if you like saisons, worth a taster pour even if you don't or are unsure.
I've been seeing a couple white oak beers recently, is this a sign of white oak jai alai coming soon?
A bottle shop in Brandon is expecting some also. Hopefully both canned White Oak and Cubano will get back in the planned rotation for next year.
I'll be In town tomorrow early in the day if anyone can grab an extra 12 of whit oak jaiali I'd grab a few pints in the tap room for your troubles if you can do a #gopickitupformebro.
I'll be there Saturday. Will it last till then or should I try to find it elsewhere when I get to Tampa tomorrow?
You can check the website to see if it's still there. Usually lasts a few days, total wine and abc will probably have it if the tasting room sells out.
