Facebook post ......... Farewell and thank you to our Northdale and Carrollwood customers. We are currently scouting new locations and plan to reappear in 2017. Check our Facebook page for updates. We will continue normal operating hours until Sunday, January 1st at 10PM.
As a non Florida resident that stays 2 min from ccb brewpub when in town its a shame to see it go......I will say the beer was better when it first opened and they would have hill farm guest taps and events with other peoples beer (fruit in the room). I feel ccb missed the boat on putting more of their cool beers(from brewery)in the cooler and could have used it as another place to get some traffic through when having releases! I know I would leave the brewpub and stop at shell for a 9.99 6 pack of jai alai that was usually fresher and always cheaper! I know they have to sell beer to jj and then buy back but should be low balling packaging to get foot traffic! O well I hope the next brewpub doesnt have craft cocktails that hold my beertender up for 5 min to make 1 drink and im just looking for a pint!
It was a good spot. It took them a while to find their groove in terms of food and service and by that time it seemed like they had a bad rap that they couldn't shake. It probably wasn't the right location or initially the right menu. That said the Order of the Red Banner and 5 Year Anniversary dinners were both amazing. I was always up for a blue cheese burger and a pint of Spider Wars. I will personally miss them and hope they're next incarnation is both a success and not too far off (in both time and distance).
They did a terrible job of marketing this place and did not follow through with what they said they would do with the menus and beer... could have been a great place and it was for a short time.
They started out with a great chef, brewer and restaurant manager. All three left and were not replaced with equally talented individuals. Tim, the brewer, was the cornerstone to the brewpub in my opinion, and each visit after he left was less enjoyable. Even when he was there though, it seemed like he never really settled in and did his thing.
In 2014 I went to the brewery followed by the brewpub. I loved the brewery and every beer I had At the brewpub the bulk of the samples weren't worth finishing and the food was mediocre When we visited the area again last year we only hit the brewery
Way to many good food and craft beer places in Tampa/St Pete these days for an average to bad place like The CCB Brewpub to survive..only surprise was that it lasted as long as it did
If it was called The Brewpub instead of The Cigar City Brewpub, I'm sure it wouldn't have. I imagine it brought in a lot of tourists on the name alone.
That blue cheese burger was so good though. Yuca fries were legit too. Beer was sort of meh. It was definitely better early on in the life of the place though.
I moved up that way last year. Went several times. They did a BA stout that was excellent. Everything else was average at best. Food was okay. Depended on what you got. It was never busy though. Agree I was surprised it lasted that long.
This would not surprise me as these days probably 75 to 80 Percent of CCB's Customers at The Brewery are Tourists so Disney would be a perfect spot for them to put a Restaurant at
This saddens me - I always enjoyed going here as sort of an after party to visiting the brewery. Burgers were solid and they usually had at least a few good beers on tap. Actually one of the best beers I ever had was their Maple Cupcake - but I heard that the guy who came up with the recipe left, so they couldn't brew it anymore.
80% really? Is there some sort of statistical analysis supporting that conclusion? I doubt 80% of people going into CCB on any given day are from outside the Tampa Bay area. I don't go as often any longer but I still see the same dudes I've seen for years in there when I normally go. Craft beer is much bigger now. There are plenty of people that normally would go to a sports bar for a drink that now go to a brewery because they're appreciating good beer. I have about a dozen friends that fit just that description. Go in at 6pm on Wednesday and it's largely people that just got off of work. That's the likely reason for the increase in traffic.
