Don't sleep on Maduro - fantastic brown ale. Its the only beer from their lineup that I regularly buy.
In St. Louis at least, the only reason to purchase Maduro is to reconfirm that it, like nearly every other brown, is no match for Civil Life Brown. Between that and Heavy Riff Velvet Underbrown, we're set on spectacular brown ales.
American or Northern English? I'd say the Northern English is right there with Maduro for me. I prefer Maduro to the Civil Life American brown. But I prefer English brown ales, so there is that. Need to give that a try next time I'm in town.
