I try to not mix the two. brutal hangover the next day

 

I like to enjoy a cigar with a nice barleywine on a cool summer night from time to time.

 

My best buds and I often have cigar-and-beer bacchanals, and when we do, the cigars tend to be as dark and strong as the beers. We had "Warlocks" with a selection of 9%-or-higher imp. stouts awhile ago, and it was grand (can't remember which beers). More recently, we did this with various maduro (I had a "Prensado"), and busted out the following: De Struise "Cuvée Dauphine," Anchorage "Darkest Hour," Grimm "B.A. Double Negative." Before that, it was DE Molen's "Kopi Loewak," Brooklyn "Black Ops," Dark Horse "Plead the Fifth" (2-year old), plus something else I can't recall. Lots of imp. stouts, and they almost always work well.

I also recommend good barleywines with cigars; a good way to celebrate getting ahold of some Goose Island "Bourbon County Barleywine" is to crack one with a good cigar. Get some age on a couple of bottles of "Backwoods Bastard" and give that a shot, too. One of the best beers I've ever had was 3-year "Backwoods," and to this day I wish I'd had a cigar with it.

but i have enjoyed fat blunts with my beer, the age old question of what came first: the hop or the bud? i know i don't live in Colorado, DC, Alaska, or Washington but a fat "cigar" of herb with a beer (of any kind) hits the spot. pure relaxation

 

I know its pretty much taboo....but I really enjoy a good smoke and a BA Stout or something pretty serious and dark with a nice cigar. I'll not argue that the cigar hinders my ability to discern flavors in the beer but I'll definitely stick to my guns when I say it enhances my enjoyment of the smoke....any others out there willing to admit their enjoyment of cigars and beers?

I wouldn't call it taboo, doest work with every beer but for some it can definitely enhance the experience. My last cigar was Sunday and it was a hand rolled Nicaraguan puro paired with a 2015 BCBS, and it worked quite well.

 

Nicaragua is pumping out some fine tobacco....

I enjoy cigars, but not usually with beer. The smoke is too overwhelming. I did recently pair a really mild Baccarat Luchadore with a Sierra Nevada Otra Vez not too long ago, and that was a pretty nice combination. The acidicness of Otra Vez cut through the cigar smoke nicely.

Personlly I generally stay away from tabacco but I do endulge myself on ocasion. I really love it when beers naturally get that wonderful mix of dark fruit, tabacco, and dark breads. I can appreciate the pairing

 

Cannabis pairs just as well.

 

Hate cigars......They should ban them from beer fests too......when I did go to fests cigar smoke almost always ruined the night.

I cant bring a boom box and blare punk rock at a fest so why can everyone smoke cigars?

Yes they are, I would take these Nicaraguan cigars over Cubans all day.

 

It's been awhile but I remember these going great with Meister Brau and Pfeiffer

 

I use to enjoy it until i quit smoking. Now even if the beer has a tobacco essencse to it like say dark belgians do, it makes me nauseous. I switched to chew but id never drink while doing that.

 

I enjoy Coffee Stouts with my cigars but usually just hot coffee when I smoke. KBS and a cigar is unreal but sometimes I just need a nic boost, so cigar and Juice.
