Cigars & Beer

I'll either pair a cigar with a big beer like a Barley Wine, Wee Heavy or Imperial Stout......OR if I have none of the above sometimes I'll just pick the shittiest beer I have to cleanse my palette a little and let the cigar shine.

The first way is much more enjoyable as you get the best of both the beers and the cigars.

The second way I only do because I don't want to waste a good lighter flavored or lighter bodied beer while smoking a cigar that will overwhelm it. I'd never pair an IPA with a cigar personally. or a quality German lager, etc..

 

When cigars are smoked I leave. Horrible smell. I hate smoke as well do it a lose lose for me.

I am now an avid nonsmoker. That said, I had a cuban when I was 18 or 19 and it was great tasting until very near the end, whereas cheaper cigars can get crappy halfway through. For pairing, a rum stout such Prairie Pirate Bomb or Noir. But now, I'd just go with the beer.
