Haven't found a beer that could stand up to a cigar until I had a bourbon county with one. Love Fuente, Padron anniversary and Patel but could only enjoy scotch or bourbon with it. Gonna try some backwoods bastard, curmudgeon, black ops or olde hickory imperial next

I heard of a few people being involved in a Beer & Cigars BIF but couldn't find a link to it. Anyone have that info or interested in putting one together?

I love this for two reasons: 1) You must have been flying high after that combo, 2) It's at the Wynn - classy.

I love smoking good cigars and pairing with beer. So far have a 28 bottle wineador and a cooler set up. If the zombies come ill be set for awhile with my smokes lol. Last night I smoked a 2012 Monte 520 EL. Hear alot about these being better than the Sublimes and Grand Edmundo in the future but im not sure. Flavors will still very muddled and young. Ill smoke another in a year or so and see how its coming along.

Going to revive this thread... I'm usually having an imperial stout with my cigar. I just was amazed by pairing Rogue's maple bacon ale with a quesada Oktoberfest and thought it was amazing. Dogfish's theobroman (sp?) was another non imperial stout that was a good pairing

There's a good cigar pairing for any beer out there. I love maduro , full flavored cigars with any stout, porter, especially barrel aged. Rocky Patel's line of the edge cigars work well, Arturo Fuente's Anejos are excellent. Olvia series V is probably my favorite to smoke with stouts. I like medium, Connecticut wrapper with pale ales, some ipas. As far as barley wines, double ipas, Belgium triples, quads, I like a more spicy and flavorful cigar with them like a Flor de las Antillas, Fuente's opus x. But I never drink a new beer with a cigar.

I smoke a cigar about once a week with beer. I've tried new beer and had beers that I've had many times before, and I find that the cigar enhances, rather than detracts the experience, regardless of what style of beer it is. I will admit, I enjoy huge BA beers more, but I find that IPA's usually hold their own. However, that being said, most of the IPA's I drink are big enough to hold their own against most things.

Spot on! Nothing like a Medalla for thirst, a Buffalo Trace, and a good cigar at sunset on the beach. Glad you enjoyed the island.

Had a DFH Olde School Barleywine with a nice cigar down at a cigar and beer shop in Keywest once. Have had a couple of Cuban cigars down in Mexico but sad to say the best beer I could pair with them was Minerva Stout Imperial. :slight_frown:

Spent all last weekend smoking vintage cigars and drinking sours, perfect combination in my mind.

Had a 2003 Partagas D4 a few weeks back and the only beer I had was Pliny. Not a good pairing at all. Luckily there was some 2009 Lagavulin Distillers Edition in the closet

A few times a month, my buddies and I do a bottle share that incorporates several styles of beer and one or two cigars of our individual choosing (often Drew Estate Javas, Perdomo Champagne Series and Ave Marias. I would agree with you that cigars and a lot of beers do not mix well, especially IPAs/DIPAs/Hefes/Lagers. We have found that your bolder, slow sipping brews such as imperial stouts, quadrupels, old ales and barleywines stand up to cigars much better, similar to how whisk(e)y and bourbon do. If you need recommendations, feel free to BM me. The latest bottle share included Cocoa Vanilla Retribution, Collage Conflux No.1, and Sucaba '13.

Paired a Padron Serie 1926 #9 Maduro with a BA Sexual Chocolate yesterday. The combo was mind blowing.

Pretty much my thoughts. Is it surprising that CC brews some beers that pair well with...well...cigars?
I've fired up some nice cigars alongside Humidor IPA, Humidor Zhukov, White Oak Jai Alai, and Maduro Brown... Fantastic pairings.

I'm impressed. I never would have considered sours and smoke. I generally think I'd prefer some silky sweet beer (old ale or barrel-aged ____). What kind of cigar if you don't mind me asking?
