Does anyone here (if allowed) trade cigars for beer? I did notice several guys trading bourbon / scotch for beer and also being a long time cigar collector (30 years) I was wondering if we can even post something like that up in the trade forums...
I believe only alcoholic beverages are allowed to be traded at the moment. https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/trading-rules-tips.229/
Unless otherwise noted, trades must be for alcoholic beverages. No other goods or services are allowed. I read that, but read it as as long as I note i'm trading cigars not that cigars where not allowed.
I could note I'm trading baseball cards, Nike shoes or jelly bellies then. My understanding of 'Unless otherwise noted' is unless otherwise noted by the site owners/administrators that anything other than alcoholic beverages can be traded i.e., they'll explicitly let us know if trading can deviate from alcoholic beverages only.
Yeah good point. Just not sure what the unless otherwise noted is referring to, but since you've been around longer then me you probably know better.
I certainly would not say that Alcoholic beverages other than beer have only recently been allowed on BA so it's possible that other items like cigars could be allowed at some point down the line if enough people ask for it. Cheers!
Nice cigars I think I have some toros. I was actually thinking about trading some old stock I'll never get around to smoking. Believe it or not I still have sealed fuente boxes from the late 90's through 2008!
Not trying to encourage "breaking the rules" and all, but there's a big difference between posting a trade, agreeing to a trade, and having repercussions if things go bad, vs. developing a relationship with someone, asking if they want to trade, and then doing so. I'm sure people traded whiskey before it was allowed. Mead certainly got traded. If you are as talkative as your posts indicate, I'd imagine you probably ask people from time to time if they like cigars. If someone says yes, just ask if they'd like to trade.
Thanks for the info. I found some guys who wanted some old opus boxes I had collecting dust. Even after 15 years of age I still thought they where a bit harsh and strong for my pallet. I guess too many years of smoking BBF just put me off of them... lol
