Going to Cincinnati for a family event next Thursday, and will have some free time on the weekend to explore. Big craft beer fans among us. Any can't miss places? Is there on site consumption in the area? We are from Orange County, NY, so we are used to Covid restrictions. Never been to this area of the country, so any help is welcome...Thanks

I think Listermann was my favorite stop. They have a good variety, but keep an eye out for their barrel aged stouts and other big beers.

Urban Artifact would be my second, in the basement of an old church, with a focus on sours.

I'm not familiar with their COVID restrictions or on-site consumption right now though.

On site consumption is in place - pretty much standard guidelines where masks must be worn everywhere but while sitting down at a table to drink. I'd probably check with each brewery's facebook to confirm they don't have any particular issues or temporary closings.

    Within 10-15min of downtown:

Listermann is great for a variety of stuff and usually will have some interesting sweet dessert beers and barrel aged stuff, in addition to hazies and fruited sours.

Urban artifact is amazing for authentic over the top fruited sours, pretty cool taproom too. Not usually too busy. If you go there, about 5 min up the road is Brink Brewing, and they really make quality beer with a more traditional style. Smaller chill taproom too.

Streetside is consistently making some of the best tasting beers in the city across the board, can't go wrong.

Rhinegeist is downtown and has a really cool massive taproom in an old industrial canning building, their beers can be a bit more "tame" but the quality is good and they have variety. Its a nice place if you want to stick to downtown and there is tons of restaurants in the Over the Rhine area nearby

If you want to go a little further out of downtown:

Sonder Brewing is north and has great beers and good food, a newer modern taproom.

50 West has a nice taproom east of the city, good beer and good food (Streetside is mostly on the way here)

And the weather is forecasted to be fantastic while you are here...so the outdoor facilities may be worth a look.

If you're downtown checking out Rhinegeist, I'd recommend checking out Northern Row as well. Northern Row is in another former Christian Moerlein Brewery building from the late 1800's (like Rhinegeist) and is right around the corner from Rhinegeist.

Taft's Ale House is another cool spot downtown. Not far from Rhinegeist or Northern Row.

When I visited Cincy a couple years ago, my buddies and I loved Braxton Labs, which is inside Party Source, a massive beer store.

Listermann, Streetside and Brink are the 3 best breweries in the city right now. Sonder would be a close 4th.

Urban Artifact is up there as well, but is all sours. If that's your thing, then go there as well.

First, thanks for all the suggestions. Out of the recommended breweries, we ended up going to Streetside and Brink. Listermann wanted you to make a reservation, and a time was difficult to nail down, so we passed on them.We can drink and enjoy sours, but none of us really love them, so we passed on Urban Artifact.

Streetside was a cool little indoor space, super friendly servers, and multiple choices of solid brews. Between 4 beer drinkers, we had 8 of their beers, and enjoyed them all. The weather was great, so we were on the front patio...they also had a good sized beer garden in the side parking lot. Ate off the food truck they had on site as well, and thoroughly enjoyed it....would definitely go there again.

Brink was next. Parked on the street, not knowing there was a large parking lot behind them, lol..Another very cool spot, with once again, super friendly servers. Offered tastes of whatever you wanted. I started of with their ESB, something I don't see a lot of and enjoy quite a bit...very good. I looked over their menu and saw that they had an English Mild that won multiple awards over the years at the GABF....had to have that...thought it was excellent...if it was at my local brewery, it would be my regular choice. Had a taste of a couple pastry type stouts they had and was impressed. Really impressed with the beers here..would definitely return here as well.

Thanks again to all who chimed in on this thread. Doubt we would've made the effort to get to these places without your guys input...cheers!
