Really depends on how far you want to travel from downtown/how mobile you are. Cincy is very spread out with breweries. Plenty of good bars to be found downtown/Over the Rhine area. OTR is great and beer scene is nice there. Rhinegeist (good hoppy beers), Taft's Ale House (good food, cool spot, decent beers), Half Cut (nice local tap selection), Liberty's Bar & Bottle (great tap list), Moerlein Tap Room in OTR (NOT the lager house on the banks - although that's a spot worth checking out too), and many others. Plenty of options on the banks too - the aforementioned Moerlein Lager House, Holy Grail, Yard House (100+ taps), Ruth's Chris for upscale steaks if that's your scene. In the 'burbs, Listermann with the "Stuff" release this Saturday and 50W are among my top spots due to quality of product. MadTree always has something cool on draft and good taproom atmosphere, but those and many other selections are a drive from downtown area. You can do plenty of good stuff by staying downtown and OTR area.
Visited in July and my favorite stops were already recommended in this thread: The Lackman, Tafts, and Rhinegeist.
Braxton Brewery across the river in Covington. Also in Covington is **** & Bull and Goodfellas, both have great tap lists. Newport has the Hofbrauhaus and the Party Source, they have a solid bar/tap list. Both areas are a long walk or a short can ride from downtown.
Thanks for all the suggestions. We are headed OTR on Friday night and then doing a brewery tour on Saturday hitting Mad Tree, 50 West, and Slate.
I am in Cincinnati every other week for work. Urban Artifact best brewery in town. The brewery is an old historical church they only do sours. Rhinegeist, Mad Tree both very good. Bottle shop craft pointe the guys there are awesome and host a tasting every Thursday. Jungle Jim's is a unbelievable grocery store with a nice selection.
The best taplist in the city is Libertys. Do not listen to these people. The have the best beers on the reg and the only bar in cicny that gets Columbus brewing company because the owner is friends with them. They don't even distro down here. Support them! Dutchs is ill too
