Is there anywhere (other than via a trade) that I can get Citra DIPA? Feel free to e-mail me if preferable.

    Thanks.

Kern River Brewing. Last release was brewery only. Limited CA distribution after that.

the only way to get citra is by going to kern river brewing or try to find it at liquor stores that HAVE high ratings. CALL the brewery and ask if they have bombers for sale.CHEERS

The brewery sells out in several days at the most on releases. It isn't something you can walk in and get. It's totally dumb how they limit it like they do. Everyone seems to want to have a "Pliny the Younger" hype beer these days....

The last Citra release was at the end of March, 40 cases a day for 3 days, 6 bottles a person, brewery only. They haven't planned another batch.

I didn't think it was as good as its hyped up to be, but I guess everyone's taste are different? just trade for it, it wasn't that hard for me to get 2 bottles.

Since the OP is from Boston he should be able to obtain Hill Farmstead beers at Lord Hobo Beer Bar & Bistro Boston, MA.

Hill Farmstead makes two rotating beers of: Citra IPA and Double Citra IPA. I had the opportunity to drink a Hill Farmstead Double Citra IPA during Philly Beer Week last year. That beer was OUTSTANDING!

Hill Farmstead only produces their IPAs on draft so you need to go to a bar to get it.

I would suggest that the OP contact Lord Hobo Beer Bar and ask when they will next have Citra or Double Citra on draft. Also ask if they will fill up Growlers and bring a Growler with you.

    Cheers!

The next public release of KRBC Citra is August. What most people don't realize is that the brewery is tiny, they just can't make enough to satisfy the demand, i.e. Alpine, hence the six bottle max. Even here in Southern California only a very few top bottle shops get a single case for distribution and it's first come first serve. For us west coasters who want Alpine and Kern we drive to the source to get our beer, it's really the only way to get it. And as far as the hype associated with these brews, they are every bit as good if not better than the hype. KRBC Citra deserves the hype, it's simply an amazing beer.

    Cheers.....

Citra was a great beer. Glad to have had it. Not my favorite all-time DIPA, but up there for sure.

Lord Hobo doesn't get HF often unfortunately.

“Lord Hobo doesn't get HF often unfortunately.” That is indeed unfortunate on many levels: Hill Farmstead beers are very, very good and Lord Hobo is specifically listed on the Hill Farmstead website on “where to find our beer”: http://www.hillfarmstead.com/where-to-find-our-beer/

This past weekend I was able to drink Hill Farmstead Edward (which is a Pale Ale) at a local to me beer bar. Edward is the best Pale Ale in my opinion.

    Cheers!

I go to Lord Hobo 2-3 times a week and HF hasn't been on since theu HF tap takeover when they had 15 different beers on tap.

Citra is the best DIPA I've ever had. Just so damn delicious. (Yes, better than HT and PtE) IMO

I love HT and Pliny but I agree, Citra was amazing.

You know I've been really fortunate to have acquired HT,HopSlam, and all the great brews we don't have accsess to here on the west coast. Yes we get Pliny as regularly as Coors and Alpine is 90 minutes away so I can keep my cellar full of Nelson, Pure, and Duet, BUT......there is something so damn good with KRBC Citra. Yes it's the Citra hop without a doubt that gives it that amazing nose and flavor profile, but as I was alluding to in this thread it's the small handcrafted super high quality attention to detail that truly seperates it from a field of high quality contenders. Again, as I mentioned earlier, even for us out here it's really really difficult to get on a regular basis and we do treasure the stuff.

    Cheers....
