Anyone do a Mosaic Citra IPA? How did this hop combo workout?

Literally just kegged a mostly Citra and mosaic ipa. I added a bit of Amarillo to round it out a bit though. Smells and tastes amazing! Huge pineapple, mango, and other tropical notes. Can't wait for it to carb up!

I did a session IPA with the pair. 2:1 Mosaic to Citra. Turned out amazing.

Yes I did, added some simcoe to the boil as well. Turned out great. Kind of gives Mosaic a bit more focus if that makes sense.

    I made a simple IPA. 1/2 lb caramel 20, 3 lb DME (@60), 4lb LME (@15), 1/2 lb sugar (@15)
Bittered with 1/2 oz each galaxy and mosaic
    1 oz citra at 10
    .65 oz Mosaic at 10
20 minutes Hop stand at 180F with:
    1 oz Citra
    1 oz NZ Pacifica
    .5 oz Mosaic
Dry hopped with same hops of the hop stand.

opened first bottle last night after a week of carbonation, and it is aggressively fruity, smell is peach juice, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, pears. Taste was less complex, peach juice like, not overly sweet with a pleasant delicate orange finish. I wanted a juicy - fruity IPA and I got it for sure. I love this beer but I see myself soon craving for a Columbus-Simcoe DIPA or something like that.

If you think Deschutes Fresh Squeezed is amazing, you probably haven't made a Citra Mosaic beer with more than 3oz of hops.

I brewed one last year that used homegrown Newport for bittering, 2 oz each Citra, Mosaic and Falconer's Flight in the boil (each split 3 ways, added at 10min, 5 and flameout) and 2 oz Cascade for dryhop. Grain bill was pretty simple - 2 row and Crystal 40, roughly 1.060 OG. I thnk FG ended around 1.014 or so (I don't have my notes in front of me.
Came out great. great citrus and tropical.

Tropical IPAs are a crime against nature.

Hey now, nothing wrong with a fresh Budweiser. Those of us with very mature palates tend to enjoy a broader range of beers, not a more narrow range.

@HerbMeowing apparently prefers English style IPA. both American style IPA and English style IPA have their merits, and both can be extraordinarily delicious.

Regarding the OP, I think that hop combination works well because it "fills in the gaps" and the overall aroma is richer and more complex. There's still a gap though; while those two by themselves are very tropical/fruity/citrus; adding a less citrusy variety can fill in the gaps even more and yield a really excellent nose: something like Alsace or Styrian Golding works well if you want complexity. Of course, if you just want a fruit bomb you could stick with just those two or even mix some Cascade in. I rarely make an IPA with fewer than 4 varieties; I like a spicy note along with the citrus and most hops that have one don't have much of the other.

I'll 3rd that...Fresh Squeezed is one of my tried and true IPA recipes...
    -Two Row, C-40 & Munich
    -1 oz Nugget @60
    -1 oz Mosaic +1 oz Citra @7
-1 oz Mosaic +1 oz Citra @0 for 15 min hopstand
-1 oz Mosaic +1 oz Citra @dry hop for 5 days
    -05, 1056 or 001 yeast

    ALWAYS a crowd pleaser!!!

Wow dude...the homebrew forum is not like most idiot filled, jackass forums on the net! Everybody has their opinion and calling someone out with the assumption that you are superior from them (however you are trying to justify it) only makes you look like a chump, especially when you've got such little experience with this site (based off of you Initiate title).
