Citra all the way. In fact Citra is my favorite and I have yet to find a beer with Nelson Sauvin that I like. Tried Schlafly Tasmanian IPA, 8 Wired Hopwired,Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere Fresh Hop Ale to name a few. There's just something too tropical about them to the point of distraction. I'll keep trying beers with them as I'm convinced someone will find a way to balance them in a way I will like. On the other hand I seek out Citra hop beers where I can. I'll never forget that first sip of Sierra Nevada Torpedo!

Got some love for Mosaic which is like Citra on steroids. Mosaic imparts mangos, grapefruit and lemony aroma/taste for me and a crisp bitterness. Green Flash's Imperial Red Rye IPA on tap is incredible!

Why pick a single hop when you can blend? All three together sounds great!

Nelson's a great hop--my personal fav--but really needs to be blended. I'd say the same thing about Citra, but many folks disagree on that one.

I ask not a fan of Nelson. Zeelander is probably my least favorite toppling Goliath ipa, had a red at town hall brewing made with Nelson, and a couple others and they just have some taste I don't like. I like all the c hops, and amarillo.

I enjoy them all but I have been really enjoying Clown Shoes Gallatica lately. Also loved Revolution's Galaxy Hero so for me Galaxy hops are my choice. I am searching for other beers that use them and are available in Ohio. Recommendations are welcome.

    Cheers!

Nelson is in the new MOA Breckfast stout from NZ. The hops enhance the fruit character of the beer.

I like whatever hops (Galaxy?) are used in Schlafly TIPA. Damn I love that beer...and I do not have a way to buy more with out a long drive.

Galaxy! I still remember the first time I tried HF Double Galaxy. It changed the way I process hop profiles in beers. Australia and New Zealand are killing it right now with these hops.

I love Brooklyn's Sorachi Ace and of course ZD, I haven't had to many Nelson's beside Humming ale, but that was decent i'll have to find some. Any one know any readily available nelson beers around Chicago?

If you had a Nelson Saison and liked it not sure if you can get the Prairie Merica in Chicago. It's one malt, one hop (Nelson), and one yeast strain, and it showcases Nelson beautifully.

So funny you mentioned Merica... I just had my first last Wednesday and it was another brew I wanted to mention w/ Nelson. Wow the Brett rocked out in that. Heckuva brew.

I love all three. Seriously, I think it depends on how well the brewer utilizes them and everyone's personal tastes - they're all fantastic. With different breweries, I prefer their single hop beers in different orders.

My favorite hoppy beers are HF Double Galaxy, Lawson's Double Sunshine (mostly Citra), HF S&S #4 (Citra and Galaxy), TG ZeeLander (Nelson Sauvin), and TG PseudoSue (Citra). Societe's The Pupil (Nelson and Citra) is also fantastic. And if you ever get a chance to try Toppling Goliath's Citra dry hopped ZeeLander (SueZee), do it!

Mosaic in Anicca by Three Floyd's and Half Acre. It's like Citra juiced up steroids IMO.

Citra, Centennial, Simcoe, and Amarillo are in most of the IPAs I love. Don't think I've had a beer made with Nelson Sauvin but look forward to it. Was wondering if Nelson Sauvin would make a good single hopped homebrew.

Close between Citra--Fuzzy Baby Ducks--and Nelson Sauvin--Coriolis, but I would probably favor Citra slightly, but both are excellent.

Citra and Galaxy hops are my favorite hops, I honestly cant decide which I like better. Nelson Sauvin is an interesting hop, but to me its good when I want something different.

In my opinion, I think it has a little more to do with how the brewer crafts the beer around the hop variety to showcase that hops specific aroma and flavor profiles the best. For example... how well the brewer can excentuate the expected or traditional flavors of whatever hop variety they used in the beer.

These are the best hoppy beers with reguard to each hop variety you asked about:
    Citra- Toppling Goliath Psuedosue.
    Galaxy- Pipeworks Galaxy Unicorn.
    Nelson Sauvin- Alpine Nelson.

PsuedoSue is the best Citra hopped beer because its got great citrus flavors and I also like the melon notes in this beer. Low bitterness levels with lots of hop flavor. Rediculously drinkable. My favorite part of the beer is that the beer actually tastes really juicy. I dont know of a better APA or citra hopped beer.

Galaxy Unicorn is pretty stellar. Galaxy and Citra hops are fairly similiar. I really like many Pipeworks single hop beers, but this one is the best. My other favorite PW hoppy beers are Citra and Simcoe, but the Glalzy Unicorn is just better. Its like Unicorn Galaxy is the perfectly executed hoppy beer by Pipeworks.

Alpine Nelson is interesting and I like that rye like spiciness with fruitiness and citrus. That makes it really unique to me.

Honorable mention to Lawsons double sunshine, but that has a blend of hops.
