If I will only be able to visit one place, which one do I do? I enjoy a great lager more than a great IPA, fwiw, but ultimately enjoy great beer of any style more than good beer of any style. Point being, if brewery a does something great while brewery b is only good (or worse) I want to hit up Brewery A.

Copperpoint is a very pretty space with decent beers for the area

Civil is a decent space with world class IPAs and stouts (when on tap). I'd also say their blondes have to be some of the best around

So....something decent for the area or something world class? I think I know where I am going.

    Thanks.

    Hit up Civil Society.

Very good call. While I am not all that into the whole NE stylef hazy IPA, i can enjoy a good one in small doses. They definitely do a good, probably even great, job with that style. I tried the Fresh Galaxies IPA and Emerald Showers IPA. I definitely enjoyed the Fresh Galaxies but really enjoyed the Emerald Showers...really appreciated the dry, piney bitterness that brought to the table. Also dug the coffee brown ale they had on tap. The one miss was their Motueka hopped saison....it wasn't a bad beer but I could have never guessed it to be a saison.

I’d be more inclined to say...”one is really hyped and the other has a brewer that has won multiple awards and medals”.

100% honesty, not being sarcastic at all, but I trust hype over medals.

Ive come across plenty of breweries touting awards for beer I didn't find to be any good, wheras hyped beer (I find) usually (but certainly not universally) runs the risk of being over rated moreso than not being any good. Just my pov.

With that said, I take your post as a defense for Copperpoint, who I assume you are a fan of? If so, next time I visit I'll put them on my list to check out. From what I saw regarding their beers available on tap, they were right up my alley. I did end up at Civil Society this time, though, and was very happy with my choice.

    Cheers.

Civil was named 5th best new brewery in the world by a competitor of BA last January.
