Ok. I bought a carb cap for PET bottles. I tried it out for the first time tonight. Everything went well on the carbing side. I did get a little bit of back-wash into the gas line. This was caused by shaking the bottle. Now there's a few drops of beer in the gas line. I know I don't want to dismantle everything. My ID and the barbs for the ball-lock and the CO2 are extremely tight--even with boiling water to loosen them up. Is there a good way to clean these lines without dismantling everything? I'm assuming I should be concerned 2 or 3 weeks down the road when this line gets a bit moldy. Any advice would be appreciated. The line is about 3' long and the connections are tightened with hose clamps.
yeah, gotta disconnect the gas line if you're gonna shake. when this has happened to me, I remove the line from the regulator, rinse with water, then sanitizer and let it dry.
You don't need to take the ball lock disconnects off to clean the line, just stick a screwdriver in the groove on the top and unscrew it, then you can remove the spring and post inside and just rinse out the line. Be careful not to lose the small O-ring that's inside.
you can delay the inevitable for a while by not doing anything and there shouldn't be any problems for quite some time, but you will need to pull the hosing off the supply side. One reason that threaded gas lines are nice...wish all mine were threaded. As hb42 says, you only need to pull one side though, the supply side.
