Are you in the right if you purchase goods for sale from a store? Yes.

If it is on the shelf and doesn't have a sign that says there is a limit on that beer then it is fair game.

Come to my beer store and do that... lol. I would really appreciate the chance to get rid of this Lolita... this is not a joke. Want some Sour in the Rye as well? Might as well make it a party.

They can't vote with their wallets? What they are forced to buy them because the price is high? What are you trying to say?

If you mean that you can't vote with your wallet because someone else will step in and buy it then when has that not been true? I suppose you would like wealthy people to stop buying Ferrari's so that the fact that you are voting with your wallet by not buying one will have the effect you desire of lowering the cost of a Ferrari to that of a Ford? It doesn't work like that. Cheers.

There's a bunch of Madame Rose sitting on shelves around town here. Charging a ridiculous $28.99/bottle is the reason why. I really like that beer but I'm not buying it at that price.

Huh? He does seem to want the beer at that price so what the issue? You may think they're overpriced but he doesn't seem to.

If a store has bottles sitting on a shelf, and there are no limits, buy away. Why would you even be worried about it?

If they're out and there is no limit, buy as many as you want. It's not you're responsibility to do what the store should be doing. But in this case it's an absolute no brainer.

Totally agree. You should NOT buy up any of a said product that you want. Wait, what??

Hate to break it to you, but people *are* voting with their wallets, and that's part of why prices are rising.

One dude boycotting a single store isn't telling GI anything.

My post (above) may have brought me good karma today as I went into a local beer shop in Charleston, SC, and found a lone bottle of Bo & Luke on the top shelf. Thank you to who ever left it there. :grinning:

People like u are ruining this hobby! You must only have one bottle and share the rest unless you liked it 16 months ago, then it's crap.

But seriously buy them, it's good beer advocacy to share good beers. If it sits on the shelf and has no limit I'll do exactly the same thing. Sharing is caring, and the money you spend allows the owners to reinvest in more beer.

Yes, if they have been there then why not buy them. I recently went into a store that was clearing out Six Geese a laying for $6 a bottle. I bought them all (14 I think) and stuck them in the basement. The owner was present and he said that he was simply trying to clear them out and that the price I paid was less than he paid. So yes, at some point you are helping them clear them out if they have been there for a while. I also recently bought a bottle of the same Lolita at the same store for $13. Left one but probably should have bought them both. Wonder why it is not selling?

If the customers of the store don't buy them then buy em up and drink/trade or gift to people who will enjoy them. Buying beer only helps the brewer, store, or industry as a whole.

Only done this twice. A few years back I went into a big box liquor store and found a some "old and price reduced" gold cap Barrel Aged B.O.R.I.S. Oatmeal Imperial Stout. First time I bought this great brew it was $19.99. Bought a single bottle for $11.99. Went back a month later and they still had the same amount but it was reduced to $8.99. Cleaned them out this time. Manager said they have been reducing some of the older stock to clear space other items. Other time was at Three Floyds on a Sunday and was told that they do not sell beer to go on that day. Waiter told us of a liquor store in Illinois that was about 10 minutes away and went there and cleaned them out of Dreadnaught, Alpha King and Gumballhead. Cashier said that it was not the first time she has seen this.

Thanks for all the responses, I did buy all of their Lolita this past weekend! The craft beer scene really hasn't hit this area, and the one store that has the majority of the customers does a much better job advertising, and frequently has bottle limits. I'll keep buying from them, as long as they continue to stock a decent amount of delicious beers, cheers!

There's a reason why it's been sitting, there are better beers and better prices. If you like lolita that much, do us all a favor and get those bottles gone so there's shelf space for better beer.
