Palate reset is a bitch, PBRs, Miller Lites, Bourbon all help. Even PAs are way to much.

Perhaps just me, but I don't use beer to cleanse my palate. Just some mild cheese, white bread and water.

I cleanse my palette between roughly 10:30 and 11:00 pm until 6:00 pm the following evening. Daily.

The cicerone training blogs / articles I've read just use standard Budweiser to cleanse between tastings.

What? This is crazy. The purpose of his post is to tip people off on a method used to better enjoy beer - definitely on topic. Also, logically speaking if we aren't allowed a non-beer beverage to be discussed then whiskey/bourbon qualifies equally to soda as not being beer..

On another note. I know OP controlled for taking time off, but in my experience this is the only thing that really helps my pallete fatigue. My pallete will get destroyed after a heavier week of hoppy beer consumption in particular, and the only thing I've done to help it was to take a couple weeks off of hoppy style beers.

While drinking beer, it's generally water. Sometimes I'll shift to bourbon, but rarely go back to beer once that happens.

G&T or the gin version of a Moscow Mule are my two favorite summer cocktails.

A light beer like Miller Light or Coors Light.

I think it's generally called a Gin Buck, but I have called it a London Llama for that double alliteration thing.

On vacation this week. Brought a ton of fantastic beers. A pair of SN Nooners just did the trick.

I'm not overly complicated. Too many stouts, I drink an IPA. Too many IPAs, I drink a stout, gose or sour.

Usually when you're getting "palate fatigue" it's your body's way of saying "I think you've had enough". That's my way of looking at it, anyway. I usually just switch to water and go to bed or switch to cheap beer if I really feel the need to keep drinking. I usually go with the former.

(All those people drinking bourbon/drinks after palate fatigue.....I wonder if they even get hangovers anymore?)

Believe it. Any thread, or comment for that matter that does not include beer in the discussion is subject to removal. It's maddening, though understandable (although sometimes not.....whatever)

DFH Seaquench has been my go to beer when I'm not in a stout or IPA kind of mood and I want a beer. Delicious and scientifically proven to hydrate you. ahh.. refreshing...

Otherwise find myself drinking more and more wine. Try some meads too, nothing better than a couple small glasses of Viking Blod.

As far as palate refresher, on those days I have no craving for alcohol, it's water or kombucha. I started making kombucha this year and drink it pretty much everyday. Get some GTs Gingerade if you see it on sale, one of my favorite things to drink.

I heard you can fail an BAC test after drinking kombucha! :sunglasses:

With Oktoberfests in full blossom. It's the best time of the year right now to reset.

Often heard it referred to as a London Mule.

I used to drink basically nothing but IPAs. But I have found I enjoy a good black lager, schwarzbier, or dunkel. Those three styles tend to be lower ABV and malty. Seems these are perfect for me if I am taking a week or two break from hoppy beers.
