Been noticing several Jewel/Oscos putting mainly Xmas, but many other beers on clearance prices. Nabbed some Dark Penance and Double Trouble for $5 off. The Jewel in Park Ridge has Kentucky Pumpkin Bourbon Barrel (or whatever it's called) for $7.50 a four pack. To me, this is testament to the overexposure of pumpkin beers. Normally, any 10% ABV beer wouldn't last more than a day on a shelf at that price. These have been there without one moving in a week. The Park Ridge Whole Foods also has Dogfish pumpkin for $5.99, and they have a ton of it.
A big "thank you" to Stooven. On Sunday, I was going past the Park Ridge Jewel and figured I would stop to see if any of the Kentucky Pumpkin Bourbon Barrel was still left. They still had about 6 4-paks left, so I grabbed one. I also got a really nice price on Sam Adams Fat Jack, Lakefront Holiday Spiced Lager, and Delirium Noël. Curiously, they had 3 6-paks of Revolution Oktoberfest on the clearance shelf, but they were still marked at the regular price.
Pumking has dropped to $3.99 a bomber in Northern Kentucky. Basically every Pumpkin and Christmas beer I have seen this year is still on the market, way over-produced.
As far as I'm concerned, 1 6-pack of pumpkin beer is over-produced. I'm a little mad at myself for not picking up SN Celebration this past year, though...
It's looking more and more like people are over the pumpkin trend. Even saw pumpkin ice cream on clearance at the grocery store the other day.
