So my buddy is driving down to Austin from Cleveland to come visit me and some other friends. He's gonna bring me a beer order down with him. What brews should he bring? I think y'all have access to Troegs? Do y'all have New Glarus? Any info will be greatly appreciated!

See seekabrew.com. That will make this a lot easier. Yes, we have full access to Troegs. No, to NG.

Hit him up for Great Lakes and Fat Heads, both local brews.

I agree that seekabrew.com will give you a list of beers distributed in Ohio but not in Texas. Also think of some of the states he's driving through - there's likely some great options in between, depending on the route.

Bodhi growlers. As many as will fit in his car :-)

I would say the can't miss beers that are semi easily found:

Hop Stalker, White Rajah, Head Hunter, Bodhi (growler only), BA Siberian Night, BA Wulver, Dark Apparition, & Oil of Aphrodite. Those are all local to OH and I'm sure I'm missing much more. I would also say you could have him stop at Lizardville and find some Three Floyds beer, Lakewood location always seems to have some. If you like Gose then Hoppin Frog King Gose Home hit this week and is exclusive to OH. Not sure if you get Hoppin Frog at all down there but if not then they also make some pretty awesome BA brews.

Get some Bodhi growlers if possible, that stuff is delicious.

I really like the Oompa Loompa Chocolate Cream Stout (fat head's). Some people rag on it because it's very thin and not sweet for a stout, but I found it to be a nice change of pace from the super boozy and sweet stouts. Real easy drinking too.

It's not too much about the styles. I just wanna try variety. All styles. Different brewers' interpretations of each style. Any style. And seekabrew really helped. Thanks guys

Not sure when your buddy is making the trip, but if not yet now is the time to pick up some GLBC Christmas Ale and Thirty Dog 12 Dogs of Christmas. I assume neither is available down in Texas.

Have him grab any of the bottled offerings from Fat Heads, Brew Kettle brews like White and Black Rajah, some staples from Great Lakes like Eddy Fitz and Christmas Ale (if that is your thing), and Blackout Stout hits late next week, depending on when he is traveling....and Hoppin Frog has some nice beers, albeit they are a bit pricey in the bomber format (BA BORIS and DORIS, et al). We get a pretty wide distro of many other beers here, from Founders to Deschutes to Victory to Evil Twin, etc etc...seekabrew is your friend!

FFF is "limited" in Ohio. I believe it must be Western Ohio only because I never saw it anywhere around Columbus or Cleveland.

When was the last time you were in the Columbus or Cleveland areas? We get FFF stuff semi-regularly.

Also, your username gives me a great idea - Faraday Cage Match.

Really? I just moved to Michigan a few weeks ago. Well now I might need to sniff out some stores that would sell FFF around Cleveland when we come for the holidays.

    lol

It gets to Columbus. I promise. Gotta ask somebody. It never hits the shelves. The "regulars" scoop it up.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to have friends in the area look into this for me.

So he's already driving down. He sent me a picture of his haul. It looks like Hoppin Frog Double Pumpkin, Buckeye Cleveland IPA, FFF Dreadnaught, Lagunitas Sucks, Victory White Monkey, The Bruery White Oak, and some bomber bottle with a yellow label that has a bottle cap with wings called Flying Acouflan??? Seems like a legit haul to me. Any thoughts?

Good stuff. When friends bring you beer, everyone wins. Now just tell him he has to bring JK back to the residents of Ohio. :-)

That's a good friend right there. You're in for some treats from that list.

Also, the bomber is likely Flying Mouflan:

Only one Cleveland beer in that whole list! :grinning:

I'm surprised he passed up Headhunter and White Rajah, but that's not a bad pickup. I love HF Double Pumpkin, Dreadnaught, and Lagunitas Sucks. Those last two can be a little hard to find fresh though.
