A customer asked me if we had Old Rasputin (we don't), I've never tried it before, so I really couldn't recommend anything...I sent him away with Founders Imperial Stout, knowing that's a great beer. If this situation arises again, what would be a good sub for it?

Worthy Adversary by Fulton is a good choice

Rufus Reserve by Triangle Brewing company? Its a decent choice...but its not a Russian Imperial

Not sure if you get Ten Fidy, but I thought that was pretty similar. And Ten Fidy is better, so.. Win win.

I'd say you did just fine by that dude.

In fact, given the choice I'd take FIS over Old Raspy any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

You made the right call, they are similar enough that he will enjoy the FIS. He might even enjoy it more than Old Rasputin, like I do.

I completely agree, I would take FIS over Old Rasputin 10 out of 10 times.

Also, Stone IRS might be a good recommendation too since it's so available.

Yeti, because I find Old Rasputin to be hoppy, Yeti is also hoppy.

Yeti is a great choice, as is Bear Republic Black Bear. I'd say Storm King too, but that might be to hoppy for the customer.

I'd have to say Ten Fidy, but more b/c I haven't had regular Yeti or Siberian Night. As a store, you guys need more stouts!

I always have put Narwal and Old Ras together for some reason, they both have a certain hop presence (narwal more so) but that's just My opinion.
