So my family is moving to the Raleigh area in June and we flew down this past weekend to house hunt. After putting a deposit down on our top choice Monday morning, we did some exploring. Next thing we knew it was late afternoon and we realized that we needed a celebratory beer. So we found a spot where Citraquench was on tap (long been trying to tick it) but that spot wasn't open until 4. We saw Clouds on the way and said hey lets go in and share a flight before we go for Citraquench. We walk in, my wife heads to the restroom and I sit. Bartender and I trade pleasentries and I ask him if they do flights (nbd if they don't) and he says yes he just has to find the glasses. My wife comes back and probably 5 minutes pass. Another bartender asks us if we are being helped, so I say well I thought so but we were hoping to have a flight, as we ask-the original guy comes back as this girl reaches for a glass and he says you cant use those they are reserved (theres like 5 other people there) so she says ok let me find you something. She disappears. 5 minutes or so later, a 3rd bartender stands right in front of us checking her phone. At this point we just got up and left. Whats the deal with this place?
I’ve only been to the one in Durham. I don’t care for the beer they make, but they usually have a good guest draft list. The service varies as well in Durham.
I only went to Clouds once several years ago and never felt the need to return. The good news is: there is absolutely no shortage of quality places to grab a beer in Raleigh!
I’ll be starting that thread right before I move lol Went to Bond Brothers on Saturday evening and enjoyed what I had there.
Probably the worst possible beer spot in town to end up at ha. Literally no idea how they have remained in business. Think they’re a Hurricanes sponsor though, so that’s kinda cool.
I’m moving from Hartford so there’s nothing positive about that team. Now I’m ecstatic that they didn’t make a penny off me!
Hit us up here next time, @JLK7299. We won't steer you wrong. Glad you enjoyed your time at Bond Brothers at least.
So happy I’m on the same page as the rest of you. When I hear people went there or hear it suggested I’m always like WHY!? Been once, possibly twice, can’t even remember, not due to drunkenness but due to the lack of anything memorable whatsoever.
Good to know I'm not crazy! Thanks y'all! First time this has ever happened to me at a brewery. I swear, the nicest people in the world usually run these!
Is it even a brewery? I know it has the word in its name, but I didn't think they actually brewed anything.
Yeah, they have house beers. They don't brew there though. They have a production facility within the beltline, north of Big Boss.
Hmm, a year (+/-)ago I thought it was pretty good, really good food and a decent selection of drafts, local and national. Never tried any of their brews...too bad, but as someone else pointed out, lots of options close-by.
