@1eyed_jack Yep, I like their IPAs too, but am not a fan at all of the abduction beers. I like your idea of a mixed 4 pack - 1 can each of different Ninja versions, but I doubt it would happen. My big hope is they price the 4 packs at about $12 so they are in line with other brands. If not, well, I am pretty much done with them. Too darn expensive.

Would they charge less on a per oz./$$ basis?

That's why I love local growler fills. A pint at $4 is solid. But a $10 fill of almost 5 of those pints? bargain.

Here the bomber scene is filled with ripoffs. If we could see a slight price break at 40 oz., I'd be for it.

A local joint just started doing custom crowler fills (mechanically sealed 32 oz. aluminum cans). Price is about what a normal 32 oz. growler could cost. They are not refillable. But I can definitely see people wanting what Lagunitas did with Sucks in that larger format. Sales do seem to say otherwise though. Bomber or 750ml do seem ideal. Price wise, yuck.

I want everything high-gravity (esp. big beers that often come bomber-only) available in 4pks of 12oz bottles Best deal all the way around. Can have a 12% Quadrupel on a Tuesday night and go to bed halfway sober. Not so w/22oz. I might love the feeling, but really, I certainly don't need that much, and too much of a good thing on a regular basis definitely gets in the way of 'advocacy'.

1eyed, I agree. I have been looking for pipeworks lately and only came up with a bottle or two in the last month so I went somewhere where I knew they had it and spent over $50 on just 5 bombers. Now I feel like I shouldn't buy anything else for a while because it feels like I'm spending too much on beer....

a 40 oz bottle would just be silly. after glass two the enjoyment would be gone for the most part. granted I took down three Celebrations tonight. A 40 would only be good for something very sessionable but even then I would want to share it out to keep from having to drink it outside of the optimal temp.

I like the format, it's a good amount of beer for a sitting, especially of higher abv.
But the price point is way off. Bombers are regularly $0.40 - $0.50/oz, whereas a sixpack or fourpack usually runs about $0.20/oz. So most bombers are literally double the $/oz, which is ridiculous.

Now if they upped the volume to 40oz, but kept the price, I'd be all for it. That would put the $/oz at roughly the same as four and sixpacks. It seems like a lot for one sitting but how many times have you knocked out 3 of the same 12oz in a night? It's just 4oz more than that.
32oz would be a nice medium as well, if they adjusted the price correctly.

I've never understood why they don't make 24 oz bombers.

I could see how a larger than 22 oz bottle would be ideal for sharing but I like drinking an occasional bomber during the week by myself and not have any worries about drinking too much even if it is a relatively high ABV. When I have a 32 oz bottle of Lagunitas Sucks, I typically wish the bottle was smaller so that I don't feel full of liquid at the end, especially if I want to switch to another beer to follow-up. So keep it at 22 oz!!!!

Now in terms of prices for bombers...whole other story

I voted to keep them as is, but it would be awesome if there were half growler options for when you plan on sharing.

I'd like to see more 24oz cans, actually.

3.9%abv saison or light (but not lacking) lager would be killer in a 24 oz can.

exactly, two 12 oz in a bigger bottle just makes sense. But I guess when your bottling x-thousand beers 2 oz makes a difference in the bottom line .
    or can

Either keep em 22oz or get rid of them. Or 24oz. Why can't they be two 12oz servings? that never made sense to me.

Don't get me wrong, I'll buy bombers once in a while if its something I really want or it's a special occasion. But I wish breweries would do more 4 packs and 6 packs instead of bombers. I doubt this will change any time soon though.
