Cracked a BA helluva caucasian to celebrate the Cubs advancing. Pretty disappointing. I get almost no barrel. The stout by itself is pretty middle of the road to me.

I tried Odell's Russian Pirate rum-aged RIS over the weekend. I didn't think it was that great- very boozy and a lot of rum presence, pretty sweet. Some people may like this more than me.

They do bottle it. It's expensive though, I think I've seen it anywhere from $25-30

Was at Baere this evening. The F/Stops Here Imperial Barrel Aged Stout is delicious. Chocolate, whiskey and coffee. Great beer.

The Russian Pirate was solid. Definitely a bit on the sweet side, I agree. Big body and considerable, warming rum character. Worth trying, though I doubt I'd buy it if they bottle it...

That is super disappointing. The regular is a favorite beer of mine, and I am really looking forward to cracking my bottle. Hopefully my results vary haha

Not talking about regular Crayt. This was aged it 2nd use Makers Mark barrels and I think I remember Ben said they haven't bottled it yet.

The Ba Stout at WTF is the same batch of beer that won at GABF and the same that is still sitting on shelves around town.

I'm confused... so are they two different versions of Ctayt? One that isn't bottled? I know there have been a few batches in bottles now...

I think there have been lots (I'm exaggerating - but at least "several") versions of Ctayt. Some make it to bottles and retail, some only make it to events...or maybe just their own stash. I don't know how all of it works, but ACG has a lot of killer beers that are/were brewed in tiny batches. The Colorambics and some of the BA stout variants being prime examples.
I'm dating myself, but the Rackhouse used to have full tap takeovers for ACG and almost none of those beers had retail releases.

The one at WTF was a Whiskey BA Stout that is not being bottled.

Hello this is Ben. I brew for ACG and manage our barrel programs.

The beer poured at WTF was batch 3 Ctayt, it just was unlabeled. Batch 3 Ctayt also is the beer that won at GABF. The 750mL bottles are labeled after they are filled and I often keep cases stashed for events that I just didn't feel like labeling. We are also bottling a BA Baltic Porter next week as well.

We are also releasing 40 cases of batch 3 Ctayt back into stores this month that have been cellared for a year.

    Cheers

Any idea which stores are getting it?

I would think mostly large retailers. AppleJack, Argonaut, Mile High off the top of my head.

How about bottling Barmen while we're wishing for things.

I stopped by the weekend after and spoke to one of the waitstaff. While they didn't directly say it, I got the feeling they didn't think it was that good. They said that next time they are going to modify the base beer so that it will take to barrel aging better. This time they just used the normal brew and added it to the barrel. Live and learn. Hopefully it will be better next time.
